I agree, though it's interesting that Altium Capital still has a buy recommendation with a target of 335p. Not sure what they base that on, but seems a bit optimistic to me.

BigTed - 10 Oct 2007 11:21 - 149 of 841

I had a mexican heatwave the other night, and bloody nice it was too... not sure what base that was either...

cynic - 10 Oct 2007 11:24 - 150 of 841

imo, valueless as it may be, both DOM and RTN are very good brands and companies and i continue to hold both, notwithstanding the probable further squeeze on disposable incomes ....... peeps will still want to eat out and both brands offer that service at value (not necessarily the same as just price) ...... in the longer term, it is far from inconceivable that one or the other or even both will be snapped up.

HARRYCAT - 10 Oct 2007 11:33 - 151 of 841

DOM had a bit of bad press recently over working conditions for their staff, plus they may not reach their target branch openings this year. Am still watching, but not holding at present.
Ted, I should think your 'base' has dropped out after eating a Mexican heatwave! :o)

cynic - 10 Oct 2007 11:49 - 152 of 841

saw that but actually very much a storm in a t-cup ...... branch openings are of much greater import both to profitability and, more importantly, market sentiment towards the company

BigTed - 10 Oct 2007 12:19 - 153 of 841

Yes Harry, when the bottom's fallen out of my world, i have a mexican heatwave and let the world fall out of my bottom...

apologies everyone...

cynic - 19 Oct 2007 10:27 - 154 of 841

have cut my losses ...... sorry to say it, but DOM has now underperformed for too long, and though rsi looks o'sold, i see no immedaite likelihood of a strong recovery especially with, imo, every likelihood that the markets are due for a sharp correction ..... for all that, i shall continue to watch and may well come back in in due course

for general info, am keeping faith with RTN at least for the time being

Pizza Hut news is not going to help

cynic - 19 Oct 2007 11:35 - 156 of 841

nothing about Pizza Hut in Telegraph, but assume they are reporting weak sales ..... have to brave to eat there imo - lol!

maddoctor - 19 Oct 2007 11:55 - 157 of 841

cynic , high salt

cynic - 19 Oct 2007 12:10 - 158 of 841

prob high sugar too ...... good old Nanny State strikes again! ...... what chance of changing a nation's eating habits? ...... bugger all! .... next time you are in the super, have a look at the next trolley at check-out and see how many pre-prepped meals and crisps and sweets and biscuits etc etc .... even the bread has a high salt content compared to that at a true baker, rare beast that it now is

maddoctor - 19 Oct 2007 12:14 - 159 of 841

cynic , sounding like grumpy old men here

cynic - 19 Oct 2007 12:32 - 160 of 841

it's not exactly rubbish, but we do make an awful song and dance when really, it is a combination of many factors from busy lifestyles with both partners working to lack of ability to cook to lack of compulsory sport and exercise in schools ...... of course we do now have a significant groundswell against all the crap that is sold, so very very slowly eating habits may change, just as has our attitude towards global warming

BigTed - 02 Nov 2007 10:17 - 161 of 841

I take it the market was looking for more growth than was reported yesterday...?

lanayel - 02 Nov 2007 10:25 - 162 of 841

The problem was the rise in the price of mozarella cheese and wheat !!!!

The overreaction yesterday was ridiculous - it seemed rude not to buy a few at 201p yesterday afternoon ...... so I did ;o)

The Daily Telegraph seem to agree - see today's Quesor column.

HARRYCAT - 02 Nov 2007 10:50 - 163 of 841

If my reading of the chart is correct, the sp hit the 200 DMA & then bounced down again. If it tries again & still doesn't breach the line then I would not be happy holding.

cynic - 02 Nov 2007 11:00 - 164 of 841

bought back in again this morning at 217

Judging by the amount of empty pizza boxes around the student areas of leeds and smokers (who are health concious!) now drinking at home. I hope this is just a blip for dom.

cynic - 04 Dec 2007 15:14 - 167 of 841

hate to say it, but the chart is pretty damn ugly ...... there might be support here or at 140, but nothing of note
