Morrisons on the way back from the dead (MRW)

Kivver - 22 Dec 2005 16:16

Not the most exciting share, but with safeway conversion now complete (and how much better the old safeway stores are now) the shares should start to come back. Already started a nice rise from a recent low. Costs for conversions will still hold the price back but when that is out of the way, should be be nice. 190p

why should it?

HARRYCAT - 13 Apr 2011 14:38 - 149 of 508

Because historically it has, as per the graph. MRW seems to be stuck within a fairly tight trading range.

TANKER - 13 Apr 2011 14:53 - 150 of 508

harry remember they are buying back 1b of shares over next 3 years

Share buy backs are generally considered to be very bad news for investors. Read the last Shares mag on the subject. Consensus is that it does not enhance the value of the rest of the shares in issue.
Written by Tom Sieber and others:
"Better than buybacks
In our view companies make the right decision by opting to return cash to shareholders through a dividend rather than pursuing a share buyback scheme on which we are generally negative. Buybacks may be more tax efficient since dividends are paid minus a 10% withholding tax, but a private investor is unlikely to be able to participate.
The majority of repurchased shares are bought directly from a companys institutional investor base. Management could argue retail shareholders benefit from the enhancement of earnings per share (EPS).
EPS is net income divided by the number of shares in issue so reducing the number of shares should automatically increase EPS, especially when returns on cash are so low. We are far from convinced that massaging earnings figures is in the best interests of shareholders though (see The Oracle, 3 Feb)."

This bunch of abusive retards is the reason MoneyAM will NEVER have a forum worth reading.

I have reported them to support by they do nothing, either because they want to force me to PAY them for the Traders Room or because they are too lazy to do anything. Maybe the people in support are the ones perpetrating the abuse, so as to force people to pay for the premium boards. Either way the service is sh1te and a disgrace to the finance industry. No wonder there is nobody left here apart from morons.

I will continue posting my good research on boards that are run in accordance with FSA and LSE listing rules and the interests of the market, not here where ar5eh0les rule the boards and all decent research is buried under their piles of sh1te.
