Socrates - 04 May 2007 09:54 - 14835 of 24230

A bacon butty is beginning to sound like a great idea. Sorry to keep on about food but it is something I'm good at, eating that is, not cooking.

stockbunny - 04 May 2007 10:32 - 14836 of 24230

It's 'greennery day' in Japan hence they aren't working today...did I hear that right?
:>}

Socrates - 04 May 2007 10:51 - 14837 of 24230

Well I suppose they are not working now any way since it is about 7 pm in Tokyo.

stockbunny - 04 May 2007 11:03 - 14838 of 24230

Oh it is too LOL

Golden week → A concession of holidays from the end of April through
to the beginning of May.
* The 29th of April-- the Greenary day( Empelor Showa's birthday)
*The 3rd of May -- Constitution day
* The 5th of May -- Children's day
*Plus, Satureday and Sunday
*Plus paid holidays (optional)
Golden week consists of the above national holidays and the weekend. Depending on calendar some people get a whole week day off.
Japanese do not have a long vacation like a typical two week summer holiday which is common in the West. Japanese call the serial holidays Golden week.

Socrates - 04 May 2007 11:11 - 14839 of 24230

Gorren week?

stockbunny - 04 May 2007 11:20 - 14840 of 24230

Socrates - 04 May 2007 11:32 - 14841 of 24230

stockbunny - 04 May 2007 11:40 - 14842 of 24230

;>)

Bluelady - 04 May 2007 11:46 - 14843 of 24230

Hi stockbunny,

What is this new interest in Japanese holidays? Found out the reason for Greenery day and of course this could be related to England when Charles becomes king due to his love of plants.

Greenery Day (Midori no hi):
Until 2006, Greenery Day used to be celebrated on April 29, the birthday of former Emperor Showa. The day is dedicated to the environment and nature, because the emperor loved plants and nature. Before being declared Greenery Day, May 4 used to be a national holiday due to a law, which declares a day, that falls between two national holidays, a national holiday.

Socrates, for someone who offers FEB so frequently, to now admit you are not so good at cooking is probably very wise!!!

Spaceman, I thought you would have learnt your lesson about asking for a BBQ'd Danish after the cherry and walnut cakes.

Spaceman - 04 May 2007 14:02 - 14844 of 24230

Still waiting for my BBQ'd danish, I think I will have a quick snooze in the hammock while I am waiting .....

Bluelady - 04 May 2007 14:12 - 14847 of 24230

Spaceman, didn't we tell you that Keaydian was in charge of the BBQ, lol. Not true but the danish has now been charred to an unrecognisable state and could possible be used for a dangerous missile.

Keaydian, Good afternoon, have you been there long?
