THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Humble apologies, instead of a spade, I should have said,

A tool for digging, having an iron blade adapted for pressing into the ground with the foot and a long handle commonly with a grip or crosspiece at the top, and with the blade usually narrower and flatter than that of a shovel.

Now see if you can find anything in that to put to the PC brigade.

When is a spade not a spade.

Call a spade a spade

Murdoch: Sun On Sunday Paper Coming 'Soon'

Rupert Murdoch has told Wapping employees 'The Sun on Sunday' newspaper will be launched "very soon".

The News Corporation chairman is in the UK to speak to staff at The Sun following the arrest of 10 current and former reporters and executives.
In an email ahead of a meeting there he sought to reassure them of his commitment to the paper.

So the Sun will print for 7 days.
Is that what they call a 'Rag Week'!

I see Cameron has said relationships between France and Britain are at their best since WW2.

From recollection, Churchill and De Gaulle were at one anothers throats.

When the former asked for something the answer was "non".

Eastern European criminals were responsible for more than 11,000 crimes in London last year.

Nationals of Poland, Romania and Lithuania are most likely of all foreigners to be prosecuted by the police, an investigation has revealed.
Overall, foreigners are accused of one in four of all crimes committed in London.

Astonishingly, they make up nine out of ten drug suspects and are responsible

how long before the rest of the uk is taken over by criminals murder rape muggings
and people turn a blind eye to scared to speak out because of being called racist
well it is destoying the world for fact why are people ashamed of there colour i am not black yellow brown pink it is just a colour

aldwickk - 20 Feb 2012 08:59 - 14911 of 81564

Its not colour its race , funny but in the 60's if someone on the tv called someone black one of those white liberals would say , don't you mean a coloured person. Now recently a football commentary called black players coloured, and the phone lines went mad with complaint's , and he had to make a pathetic demeaning apology.

greekman - 20 Feb 2012 09:22 - 14912 of 81564

Hi Aldwickk,

Its the same with Gypsies.

Several years ago I was subject of a complaint by a group of young Gypsies when I referred to them as such. They stated they were travelers and should be referred to as that.
When I then referred to them as travelers, an old lady Gypsy complained that I should not call them that as she was a Gypsy and proud of it.

Talk about a lose, lose situation.

Note........Travellers!!! Its funny really, as many of these Gypsies/travelers had been on the same site over 20 years.
I travel more than they do.

Allusion

Possibly one of the reasons for the uproar, is that many reflect back to the Germany in late 20s, as the rise of Nazi Fascism through the 30s and WW2,.

The Jews, Gypsies and other minorities who appeared different were used as scapegoats for discontent and economic problems and failings of government. This helped organise the rabble and was utilised, by Hitler and his cohorts to rise to power.

The problem is that discussions of “social” problems are difficult to discuss, unless you are able to nominalise groups in order to examine possible problems.

However, many of the remarks being made, appear to me, to be deliberately inflammatory and based on prejudice, intolerance and bigotry.

Again focussing the public on minor social problem areas and deflecting the public from the real problems.

As far as the use of coloured, black, brown, daft is concerned it depends in which way the remarks are being made, to me it seems often to be an obvious way to group individual, the problem is that again it relates to the periods, past and present of White or underlying Racial Supremacy and the underlying beliefs and ideology.

(Seen in the present attitudes that the Arabs are not fit , or responsible enough, to have Nuclear Competence, while all others are capable of the responsible.)

N.

I did and he remained a friend.

But, once somebody called called me English and I was really offended for at least 30 secs.

Sometimes, I am sometimes confused by racial groupings.

I am racially "pure", but my wife's family started off being Yugoslav and now its members are Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian plus a few others nationalities.

All apparently different, but speaking the same language and getting on with one another.

My family often suggest I am from a different planet. Perhaps Mars while she is from Venus.

Again, my knowledge of geograpthy is pretty appalling.

Iranians are not Arabs. They cannot even speak or understand Arabic. I fact they hate to be called Arabs.

It took them 3o years, after invasion by Arabs, to change the language back to Parsi (called Farsi by Arabs first and the rest of the world).

Even Egyptians and Syrian and Lebanese are not Arabs. They only speak Arabic, like Canadian, Americans etc, these are not British and English, but speak English.

Even BBC and other media are mixing up and follow American media with no attention to the reality...
