This is a very exciting company with bags of potential IMHO. The tie-up with De Beers and the amount of their Mopipi site as of yet unexplored means that, if they're lucky, this company could really be going places. De Beers lend some credibility to their work and although the sp has been impressive of late I believe there could be a lot more to come. I would be interested in the views of others on this one.

Mike,
I agree, some potentially teriffic news today!
FDI have virtually surrounded the largest diamond mine in the world, Jwaneng, with exploration projects!
All the licences are in the proximity of the richest two diamond mines in the world, Jwaneng and Orapa, so surely they have an excellent chance of hitting a kimberlite or two sooner or later?
I found today's news reassuring after the recent fall, and FDI is looking better and better for a longer term hold IMHO. I like the link with De Beers, it adds credibility IMHO.

Absolutely Andy but another small tick down today. Does the market not think FDI credible in the long run, given the potential that you've so ably described?

queen1,
Who's to say if there's not a little tree shaking going on here?
I honestly don't know why the price is down, but don't expect it to be for long, results and initial Bonte Koe news due soon.
Looking at the recent trades, there were a lot of small private investor sells, volume wasn't great, so this will hopefully turn out to be a short term trend, rather than bad news.
I think value will out here in the longer term, FDI is for investing rather than trading IMHO.

That's good to hear as I'm in for at least the medium haul. However, still get this sinking feeling that I bought in too late - damn! Hoping to be wrong!!

Sold all but my profits from last week's buy.
That was a useful little excursion. Hopefully it means nothing, but I'm happy enough to be back down to my earlier shareholding for a while.

Mike,
Nice piece of trading!
queen1,
I hope you're wrong too!
Personally, I feel there's superb petential here, but as always with exploration stocks, we are awaiting news, which in FDI's case, may well be forthcoming in the not too distant future!
Minestart at Bonte Koe must surely have happened now? What we need to know is the grades and price per carat achieved, in order to assess their value to FDI's bottom line.

Guys, much better day today. Feels very uplifting and fingers crossed for more of the same upwards motion tomorrow! Thanks both for your posts to date. Other threads and shares seem to be more fashionable but if this one keeps going......

Long been a fan of this company and recently topped up my shareholding before they went mad (hindsight is a wonderful thing). Tons of potential with all the exploration licenses they have and also the JV with De Beers is very exciting. My trouble with this share is trying to gauge the true economic value of the intangible assets to come up with a realistic share valuation. Anyone any ideas ?

Up again, through 100p - excellent - and I'm not complaining - got enough here for now, and cash from yesterday's sale is performing better elsewhere at the mo' (eg. ADN, LDN and OYS, fingers crossed).
Thnx Andy.

queen1,
Agreed, I prefer less "fashionable" (noisy) threads, where the shareprice is rising!
Good to see FDI held the 100p mark, hopefully building a base at this level, we just need the Bonte Koe news now.

Two new joint venture agreements with De Beers but little movement in the SP. When is this going to take off again?

queen1,
"take off again"?
I have pasted the chart for the last year below, it looks ok to me!
Give me a steady rise over a vertical climb any day, because IMHO it's more sustainable.
I have only read today's RNS briefly, but can see only good news contained within, and further JV's with De Beers are the icing on the cake, surely?
Once I have read the RNS more thoroughly, I will post some highlights here to discuss.

Andy, forgive me for letting the yuletide tradition of "Bah Humbug" cloud my judgement but what the hell happened today, losing 8%???!!!

queen1,
To be perfectly honest, no idea!
The volume was low, less than 100,000 traded, but yes a disappointing drop after what I thought were decent results yesterday, and also positive updates on all their projects.
i'm not sure what else the market wanted, maybe a few T trades closing after results were announced?
I am bullish for 2005 for FDI, and a long term holder, so I'M not too worried by intra day drops, although I certainly hope that is thE last 8% drop we will see!

Here, here! I'm hopefully in for the medium-to-long haul as well but could do without such large, crazy swings. I get enough of that from holding CYC and ZOO!
