SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

What happened to that email one of us sent to Sefton asking them to do a bit more PR to raise the profile of the company??? Did you (sorry, can't remember who wrote it) ever get a response? Is it me or has it disappeared from this forum too?

relishing - 06 Mar 2008 10:26 - 1553 of 2350

rhino,

I sent the email and I received a reply, which I was happy with. I also made a follow up phone call which I was even more happy with. But i've removed the email and will not post any more details on here as I promised not to.

Who on Earth are these buffoon(s) selling Sefton this morning?

rhino213 - 07 Mar 2008 16:55 - 1554 of 2350

So let me get this straight....you called Sefton and I'd imagine you spoke to Gary and he said "Yeah, we're going to do some PR work to raise our profile. You know, tell people how good things are looking....but promise me you won't tell anyone. PROMISE ME!!!"

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the genius of reverse psychology.

relishing - 07 Mar 2008 17:47 - 1555 of 2350

Gary? Who?

I spoke to the Chairman mate.

rhino213 - 07 Mar 2008 17:52 - 1556 of 2350

Gary Dillabaugh is the Corporate Secretary. He's normally the one who answers investor queries.

relishing - 07 Mar 2008 17:54 - 1557 of 2350

LOL not anymore! He hasn't dealt with investors enquiries since before xmas.

Anyway, why deal with the minions when you can speak to the top dog?

2517GEORGE - 07 Mar 2008 19:09 - 1558 of 2350

So why should you be privy to the info he relayed , but he's not prepared for it to go any further, sorry relishing, no slur on yourself, but something is not quite right.

LOL. You don't ask - you don't get.

But seriously, if you ever phone a Director you will know that sometimes you ask and they offer you their opinion on something. But they don't want that opinion plastered all over the internet to be taken out of context.

If you want to know something, at the end of the day why aren't you prepared to get in touch with them yourself?

halifax - 08 Mar 2008 00:07 - 1560 of 2350

Or make up a story!

relishing - 08 Mar 2008 12:31 - 1561 of 2350

You what?

LOL you believe what you want to believe.

kkeith2000 - 08 Mar 2008 17:04 - 1562 of 2350

Its strange we have all the good news coming out, the new wells drilled increased production, high oil prices and possibly the commencement of steaming
All this good news but not reflected in the s/p, we must be sitting on a volcano ready to blow but when i don't know

I am the original boy scout so I am fully prepared if I feel the need, but there is nothing re SER that I wish to speak to management about. As for the 'top dog' it was nice that he could spare the time to speak with you, although I must say it does concern me somewhat.

What concerns you? That the Chairman was prepared to speak to a private investor (who make up the only investors in his company apart from the Directors themselves)? In my book that is a good thing and one of the advantages of investing in smaller companies. Can you imagine the Chairman of BP taking the time to speak to a small investor?
