Test Results Exceed Expectations for Well 73 at Kemerkol Oil Project, Kazakhstan

Initial flow response of 450 barrels per day on 12 millimetre choke,
significantly more than initial expectations
Three oil-bearing intervals intersected with a combined gross thickness of
30 metres
Drill rig on site at new target Well 62

The Board of Victoria Oil & Gas Plc ('Victoria' or 'the Company')(AIM:VOG), the
oil and gas development company focused on the Former Soviet Union, today
announces better than expected test results from Well 73 at its wholly owned
Kemerkol oil project in the Atyrau Oblast of Kazakhstan.

The first of a new six well development programme at Kemerkol, Well 73 was
successfully drilled to a depth of 1,250 metres penetrating the Triassic
formation updip of Well 20. The well intersected three oil-bearing intervals
between depths of 1,169 - 1,208 metres with a combined gross thickness of over
30 metres.

The intervals flowed oil at a rate of 450 barrels per day with no water and only
traces of gas from a 20 metre perforation interval on a 12 millimetre choke.
During the flow period for the pressure build-up survey, the well produced 440
barrels per day at a reduced choke size of seven millimetres. The choke will
remain at this reduced size during an initial production period of four to six
weeks, after which it can be enlarged to optimise oil output.

Meanwhile the drilling rig has been mobilised to the site of the next well, 62,
on the eastern side of the licence block. The eastern side was not mapped in
detail by the previous 2D seismic survey, but the Company's own 3D survey has
revealed a number of potential targets.

The workover of Well 20 has been completed, but the Company is awaiting the
necessary permits to be issued by the relevant Kazakh authorities before test
production can recommence.

Tony Porter, CEO of Victoria Oil & Gas, said today, 'Well 73 has exceeded our
expectations and given us the perfect start to our development campaign for
Kemerkol. We had anticipated a flow rate close to that of Well 20's original
production level, but instead it is significantly higher. I should also point
out that we are still not at the crest of the formation. We are almost ready to
begin drilling of Well 62, our next target on the other side of the licence
block. This area had not previously been explored in as much depth and a good
result could be very significant for Kemerkol and Victoria.'

That's better! (for a change)

cynic - 24 May 2007 07:18 - 1593 of 2511

does better equate to really good or is it just much more encouraging?

skyhigh - 24 May 2007 07:20 - 1594 of 2511

the latter I suspect.

cynic - 24 May 2007 08:03 - 1595 of 2511

well no chance of making a quick turn here .... up 6 at the opening!

skyhigh - 24 May 2007 08:05 - 1596 of 2511

it'll be a slow upward rise over the coming weeks/months imho

jimward9 - 24 May 2007 10:38 - 1597 of 2511

do not mind a slow upward rise, as long as the slow downward one has stopped !

olami5 - 05 Jun 2007 08:57 - 1598 of 2511

does anyone know why the price keeps dropping even though the last new was fairly good

cynic - 05 Jun 2007 09:10 - 1599 of 2511

because chart indicates as much and still no news worth getting excited about and too many peeps got badly burned about a year ago

skyhigh - 05 Jun 2007 10:34 - 1600 of 2511

Yes, I got badly burned...holding for recovery..however long it takes!

cynic - 05 Jun 2007 10:47 - 1601 of 2511

not sure who/what will be dead first; you or the company!

From a 10-bagger share to 2-bagger now. Miserable.

Big Al - 05 Jun 2007 10:55 - 1603 of 2511

I for one am absolutely amazed people continue to hold their losers.

You don't make money in the stockmarket doing that!!

seawallwalker - 05 Jun 2007 10:59 - 1604 of 2511

Quite right.

cynic - 05 Jun 2007 11:09 - 1605 of 2511

hyleo ..... at least you are in profit still, but quite why you did not at least top-slice if not dump all at much higher levels is between you and your god

hlyeo98 - 05 Jun 2007 14:38 - 1606 of 2511

FYI, I don't hold any VOG shares.

HARRYCAT - 05 Jun 2007 15:03 - 1607 of 2511

In answer to Big Al's comment, suppose you bought VOG at 70p. Currently you would be sitting on a loss of 30p. Approx 40%.
Sell, taking a 40% loss, which means you can invest the money elsewhere, BUT you still have to make up the 40% before you are in profit.
Hold, hoping for VOG to find oil, which means you do not have to realise a loss. If they find oil (in commercial quatity) the sp is more than likely to clear the 100p mark. Of course, the question is , how long do you wait?
Surely all exploration stocks are a 'wait & see' game up to a certain extent, plus drilling for oil in proven areas has got to be less risky than rooting around at sea trying to bring up the dregs of previous wells?

Big Al - 05 Jun 2007 15:55 - 1608 of 2511

I'm always out well before I suffer a 40% loss, HARRY!! To even enter a trade expecting to be hit that hard should be unthinkable IMO.

;-))

geoffsh - 13 Jun 2007 08:54 - 1609 of 2511

Can anyone tell me what the current, net asset value per share of the c1 c2 reserves at kemerkol would be ?

cynic - 13 Jun 2007 10:04 - 1610 of 2511

surely NIL until such a time as the reserves are not only 150% proven but are also being extracted
