Skinny,

I wonder that when you put up a chart that as well as a short period chart you could add a 12mth period one as well.

Although, I think you are a short term trader, sometimes it is easier to guess the next phase from added information.

-=-=-=-

I do wish one could place on the chart regression channels.

I put GRG up again to asked for help.

The problem I have is with stochastic indicators.

Ie. at the moment, on a lot of charts which interest me, the price movement may suggest buy, while the Stochastic suggests sell.

Also, with a regression channel drawn over a 12mth period, the SP seems to me, ready for a retracement.

If any, which indicator should rule.

HELP!

goldfinger - 25 Mar 2010 01:35 - 162 of 3532

Chart regression channels Fred, can you be a bit more specific please.

Not one ive heard a lot about. Nor come across a great deal.

Are you meaning using a linear equation in setting 3 channel lines?? If it is, its the Yank TAers who tend to use it a lot more than we do over here and cant think of any boards who give the service.

Would certainly agree with you that the lower indicators are looking very topy on Greggs but also the SP looks like its gotten too far away from the short term MAs.

Skinny thanks.

Goldfinger.

Thanks.

In Sharescope easy to place on charts.

I will dig out their defn, later.

But I use them retrogressively or projectively and you can use standard deviation from the median.

On the chart the results are similar to using support and resistance lines using highs and lows.

Helps judging "outliers".

The channels can show up outliers etc.

Nothing is absolute.

skinny - 25 Mar 2010 10:21 - 165 of 3532

Fred, using your channels, what is your view on MAB. I notice GRG are up again.

Fred big charts may be of use to you as per below.......

big%20charts%20logica.JPGhttp://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/interchart/interchart.asp?symb=UK:LOG&sid=121702&time=

Plenty of upper indicators you can use.

Fred1new - 25 Mar 2010 13:05 - 168 of 3532

Skinny,

I will have a look, but I am sceptical of my own proficiency at reading the charts.

Fred1new - 25 Mar 2010 14:31 - 169 of 3532

Skinny,

Mitchells & Butlers To Sell Up To 15% Of Estate

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Mitchells & Butlers PLC (MAB.LN) said Wednesday it would sell up to 15% of its pub estate as its new chairman accelerates the pub group's move away from traditional drink-led pubs towards those offering a full food service.

It has spiked on this news.

It seems like the optimism about opposition future economic policies.

The 12rh month progressive trend confidence channel of for shows the present price as and outlier with high finish yesterday and probably today.

Similar for 6 mth with prices moving higher to previous "median". (The only way I can state it, Probably wrong.)

Similar for 3mth, but the cycles within the channels, would make me hesitant and that the price will drop.

Ie. I would take profits as a short time dealer and wait a day or two,

But I wouldn't pay for my own opinion on this.

Greg 12 and 3mth pattern are similar to above, but 6myh is a bit dubious.

However the 3mth pattern I think is showing a break out into a new uptrend, but might bounce back.

If I was in cash,. with my present experiences I mighr stay where I was.

Perhaps, I would use short term or intra-day SBs

Best of luck.

Fred1new - 25 Mar 2010 14:42 - 170 of 3532

Have a look at BBY.

Getting a hell of a lot of financially good deals.

I think it is going to break out.

The OBV would support this, but stochastic seems to be at variance.

If there is a 3mth cycle in place al should be well. But that is optimism on my part.

At the moment, I only hold a small number of SBs on this one.

Fred1new - 25 Mar 2010 15:04 - 171 of 3532

More important at the moment, does anybody have a recipe for a Celeriac remoulade?

skinny - 25 Mar 2010 15:16 - 172 of 3532

There you go Fred - Celeriac remoulade with homemade mayonnaise

goldfinger - 25 Mar 2010 15:22 - 173 of 3532

Fred1new - 25 Mar 2010 15:46 - 174 of 3532

Thank you.

Make the remoulade before my mistress returns and look at the video while I eat it, just to impress her!

goldfinger - 25 Mar 2010 15:53 - 175 of 3532

Fred1new - 25 Mar 2010 16:56 - 177 of 3532

Skinny,

Two important problems

1) can I use garlic for the remoulade
2) can I make a remoulade with a turnip.

But of less importance, have been looking at median prices rather than HL etc.

Have a look at these indicators for Greg and MAB

Williams Awesome Osc, and Williams AC indicator.

GG if I read them properly is at present a sell. While MAB is a hold.

Interesting to watch.

goldfinger - 26 Mar 2010 12:39 - 178 of 3532

Just added some links on the opening post. Not much going on today.........yet.

Fred1new - 27 Mar 2010 17:05 - 179 of 3532

BBY.

Worth considering. But DYOH

Fundamentals impress me, with seemingly endless new large contracts.

If one draws a downward resistance trend from 450, the line supports a breakout upwards.

I "think", or hope, that overall candles and indicators support the above.

Bought earlier and followed up after initial movement. My average price of holding is now 279p.

Probably, increase my holding later

I think the ROC will increase and I intend holding for long term unless there is a fall back.
Target price for me at the moment 340+p
