This offer, who wants to buy who??? The wording is not clear, it looks like Pipex are looking to buy Host Europe, but if thats the case why is Pipex going up and Host Europe going down.

The Board of Host Europe announces that it is in discussions with Pipex
Communications plc ('Pipex') which may lead to an offer to acquire the entire
issued and to be issued share capital of the Company.



In the event that the current talks were to lead to an offer being made for the
entire issued and to be issued share capital, the Host Europe Directors
currently consider it likely that the total consideration in any such
prospective offer would be in cash at or around 31.2m, representing 2.5p per
share on a fully diluted basis.



This announcement is being made with the agreement of the Board of Pipex.

Pipex want to buy Host Europe. As to why the price of HER is going down and PXC up, I can't offer any explanation.

It may be me being stupid, but the reason why PXC is going up is that if the acquisition does go through at the price mooted, it would be a bargain for PXC. Her has gone down I think as there was a broker note suggesting it could go up to 5p. As HER is not too far off from 2.5, it has not been bought at a premium as sometimes these things are, so does not offer particularly good value to HER shareholders especially those who were looking for it to go higher.

Bit of a Noddy way of putting things, but I'm sure Goldfinger will be around to correct me if I'm wrong!!!

The fact that this is a cash offer means that Pipex are profitable and generating plenty of cash. Some people suspected this and were waiting for the results to confirm it, however now we all know - there's no stopping the buyers piling in.

The more acquisitions Pipex make, provided they get a good deal, will substantially enhance their earnings growth. It looks as though the "big guns" cottoned on to this today and we should see some very healthy rises coming in the run up to results.

Never know we might get an thirdparty hostile bid for HER. But then again I cant but help feel that the more PXC adds to its growing empire the more likely we are going to see a bid for the mother ship, ie PXC. Hope that makes sense.

Please remember just what PXC as achieved in such a short time and at rock bottom prices aswell.

Well, whatever the reason, PXC has been the darling of my (meagre) portfolio since I first got in back in July on a Shares Mag tip.

The shares are undervalued!!! results definately out next week, who needs em now. as positive news is flowin again!!! watch this company move.. long term and i mean long term this companies a gem!!!

Small article about the possible deal with HER in the FT today.

Would of hoped for a little more movement today after news of HER

How does Pipex propose paying for HER.Will they be coming back to the market for more money????

As i understand it, the offer is cash

It is a cash offer and if Pipex get HER for the price they are looking at (2.5p per share), it will be a real bargain because HER are doing well and the deal will open many doors straight into Europe.

Added again today. The results should prove to be a spur on.
