there have to be better options ..... drilling update could just as easily be negative as positive

required field - 29 Aug 2008 14:24 - 1617 of 2087

I used to be in this one...seems years ago....reading through all your posts ...I'm confused (not .com)(sorry couldn't resist that one !) as ever...don't know what to make of this one...if I had to pick at the moment between HAWK and EME...I'd go for the former !.

cynic - 29 Aug 2008 14:32 - 1618 of 2087

agreed, every time

niceonecyril - 29 Aug 2008 16:34 - 1619 of 2087

Taken from another board, complete run down on the position of EME.

The CURRENT STATUS of the Block A & Block B wells in which Empyrean has a working interest are as follows:-

BLOCK A

JV Block A-1 (Kunde 3) horizontal well (last RNS 28/5/08)

Had been a difficult well to drill due to very high pressures and heat but there were consistent gas shows and flares whilst drilling and it seems to have encountered a natural fracture. An acid fracc with 5 sets of perforations over only 900' of the 2700' horizontal, produced "spectacular" flows of 2.5mmcf of gas and 950 brls. of concentrate per day from zone 1. Awaiting further developments.

JV Block A-2 (Kunde 2) vertical/directional well (last RNS 1/11/07)

Well completed to 12,032' TD in Oct 2007 and encountered the same promising zones as per Sugarloaf 1 etc. The well has been used to monitor the fraccing/testing of kunde 3. Plans for any further development still to be announced.

JV Block A-3 (Baker 1) horizontal well (last RNS 17/4/08)

Ceased a diificult drilling in Jan '08 ( due to high pressures/instability)at measured depth of 15,300' following gas shows and multiple flares over nearly all of the ~2800' of the horizontal section. Assumed to have encountered a natural fracture. Subsequently put on natural flow test (i.e. without stimulation) and latest flows reported at 2.2mmcf of gas and 560 brls. of concentrate per day from zone 1. Further development plans (including stimulation) still to be announced.

JV Block A-4 (Baker 2) horizontal well (last RNS 1/8/08)

Pilot hole vertical section completed on 1/8/08 to 12,756' and the logs showed gas shows over ~300' between 12,400-12,700' depth. Maximum gas readings reached 1325 units against a background average of ~50 units. Setting cement plugs in order to kick off and commence drilling of 6,000' horizontal.

Kunde 4 ( no RNS yet)

Application made on 19/8/08 to RRC of Texas for a horizontal well, See:- http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/DP/drillDownQueryAction.do?fromPublicQuery=Y&name=KUNDE%2BNO.%2B1%2BGAS%2BUNIT&univDocNo=485239404

BLOCK B

Sugarloaf 1 Vertical well (last RNS 18/2/08)

Well completed in 2006 but currently shut-in awaiting test results from other wells. A fraccing attempt of zone 3 in Oct '07 produced minor quantities of gas & condensate, but also some water which was believed to have come from a deeper non-chalk strata accidentally penetrated by the frac.

Kennedy 1-H Horizontal well (last RNS 13/8/08)

Well completed in nov '07 but did not encounter any natural fractures and was not optimally completed as had to have a cement liner and a shorter than planned horizontal of approx 3600', a part of which had gone deeper than planned into zone 2.
A major fraccing attempt of the last 600' of the horizontal ( in zone 2) was not successful and most of the fraccing fluid remained in the well, but some minor production has still been reported ( latest figures 180m cu ft. of gas and 33 brls. of concentrate per day ). The well is currently shut-in whilst the operator prepares to install a production facility and ties it into a nearby gas transmission line. A decision as to whether to fracture stimulate the remaining 3000' of horizontal section will be made later.

Kowalik horizontal well (last RNS 26/8/08 by ADI)

Vertical pilot hole completed at 11,970' target depth and elevated gas readings through austin chalk section of up to ~400 units as compared to background gas readings of ~120 units. Now sidetracked and preparing to run production casing prior to drilling 6,000' horizontal section targeting zone 1.

The following wells have had permits applied for but are not confirmed as being in our JVP at this time. So I am making an assumption that may or may not be correct.

Weston 118-1 (No RNS yet)

Application made to RRC of Texas on 21/8/08 for a horizontal well. see http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/DP/drillDownQueryAction.do?fromPublicQuery=Y&name=WESTON%2B118-1&univDocNo=485242660

GLANTAL
The Glantal (and Lautertal ) project is located near Frankfurt in Germany. Its Neues Bergland permit for exploration of deep anthracitic coal beds for natural gas on the Pfalzer anticline covers approx. 515 sq.kilometres. Empyrean has a 52% interest in a partnership with Pannonian international who are the operator and a 100% owned subsidiary of U.S. based Galaxy International. A well drilled in 2006 established a probable vertical seal over the coal beds but, despite some minor gas shows, the well was not commercial and was abandoned. Subsequently it emerged that the siting for the well had not been optimum due to errors in interpretation of old seismic data.

CURRENT STATUS Latest news:- RNS of 18/2/08

Working with Pannonian to finalise plans for a seismic programme to assist in defining future drill targets. A geophysicist consultant has been commisioned to analyse existing seismic data.

EAGLE
The Eagle project is a structural-stratigraphic play targeting an oil field pool in the San Joaquin Basin California with a P50 reserve estimate of 7.1 Million brls of recoverable oil and 12.3 billion cu.ft. of gas. Previous wells drilled to exploit this reserve have encountered technical difficulties, in part due to the nature of this fields Gatchell sands.
Empyrean, plus the Operator Victoria Petroleum and other Australian partners, drilled their Eagle North-1 appraisal well in 2005/6 and encountered oil shows, but technical difficulties with the horizontal section of the well eventually forced an abandonment.

CURRENT STATUS Latest news:-RNS of 18/2/08

The operator (Vic Pet) is attempting to farm down it's interests in this project. Empyrean maintains it's 38.5% interest and may seek to increase this and/or become the operator in due course.

MARGARITA

Empyrean farmed into Project Margarita, operated by Wandoo Energy in South Texas, in december '06 with a 44% working interest in an initial programme of 6 shallow wells, with an option to participate in deeper wells later. Subsequent drilling of the 6 shallow wells produced 3 commercial wells which are still producing enough oil & gas revenue to about cover Empyreans annual overhead costs.

CURRENT STATUS Latest news:- RNS of 18/2/08

Production continues from the 3 shallow discovery wells ( Dona Carlota, Agavero and Milagro) drilled in summer 2007. Production in January 08 was 32.104 mcf of gas and 1121 brls of oil.
At this stage, Empyrean has elected not to proceed with any of the Margarita deep projects as management feel that there are better risk Vs reward opportunities elsewhere.

Traders indicate that eme is a potential target in more ways than previously thought. The estimates at the sugarloaf-1 are now been established higher than estinates sugges. With the stock undervalued by a considerably amount. This company related to a higher value than current levels. This week will reveal for EME that this share price will move up dramatically to new highs.

my opinion of EME has not changed, and i only keep a casual eye on it

blackdown - 04 Sep 2008 18:25 - 1629 of 2087

Miniscule volume.

shadow - 06 Sep 2008 15:35 - 1630 of 2087

The rise from 38p to 41p for eme indicates that the city people have got hold of vast amounts of stock as news is arriveing from the sugarloaf-1. Apart from the vast flows of reserves due, this announcement will be truly welcome, and Eme will rise dramatically in September which is a good month for EME. 87p-95.53.

Kowalik #1H Well

Empyrean has been advised by the operator of the Sugarloaf AMI, Texas Crude Energy Inc ('TCEI'), that as at 6am Texas time on 9 September 2008 the well was drilling ahead in near horizontal hole within the target upper part of the Austin Chalk at a measured depth of 13.385 feet. Approximately 1,400 feet of horizontal hole has now been drilled with total gas recorded in the range 300 to 700 units - up from a background of approximately 200 units. A small intermittent gas flare has been observed over the latest approximately 100 feet of drilling.

The horizontal section to be drilled is planned to be approximately 6,000 feet in length and is targeting the upper pay interval that has been reported as successfully producing gas and condensate in Block A (TCEI JV Block A-1 and A-3 wells).

Empyrean has an 18% working interest in this well.

niceonecyril - 10 Sep 2008 07:55 - 1632 of 2087

Commenting on the progress of the Kowalik well, Chris Hodge the Managing Director of Adelphi advised that a number of measures have been put in place to ensure that the horizontal section is drilled in the prospective upper part of the Austin Chalk; these include underbalanced drilling, new directional drilling equipment and additional logs to aid geosteering. These measures have been effective and the well is progressing according to plan. The first signs of flares while drilling are also encouraging. Based on progress to date, the well will take approximately 2 more weeks to complete drilling the horizontal section."

VPE 2008 annual report. Year ending 30 June.

The Margarita Gas Exploration Project in Texas produced 32.3 million cubic feet of gas and 1,767 barrels of oil. ( covers VPE share only at 20%. EME share 44% )

Expressions of interest have been received from industry parties for the purchase of the oil and gas
assets of Victoria Petroleum USA, Inc.

http://www.vicpet.com.au/Reports/download/VPE_Financial_Report_2008.pdf

Interesting annual report from SUN.
Proposal from VPE for EME to take over Eagle in toto.

Notwithstanding high oil prices, there has
been no progress on the Eagle Project farm
out in California during the financial year. As
a consequence, at the end of June 2008, the
Operator presented a proposal to joint venture
partners to hand their respective interests
over to Empyrean Energy PLC for a small
consideration. This would relinquish the joint
venture partners of any further liabilities and
costs on the project. Sun Resources accepted
the offer for its 10% WI post financial year,
and will be exiting this asset when legal
documentation is completed.

11th September 2008

Empyrean Energy PLC

('Empyrean' or the 'Company'; Ticker: (EME))

Sugarloaf Block A, Texas USA

TCEI JV Block A # 4 well reaches total depth

Encouraging gas observations and flares over more than 1500 feet

Operator preparing the well for setting production casing followed by testing

Empyrean Energy Plc, the oil and gas explorer and producer with assets in Germany and the USA, is pleased to provide the following update on operations at Block A within the Sugarloaf Prospect:

Empyrean has been advised by Texas Crude Energy Inc that the TCEI JV Block A #4 horizontal well has reached a total measured depth of 15,084 feet. Current operations are circulating gas out of the drilling fluid in preparation to run production casing. The well will then be tested.

During drilling, high gas readings and flares have prompted the operator to call total depth earlier than anticipated as they believe the gas observations from an interval of more than 1500 ft in length suggest sufficient encouragement to provide for a good commercial outcome. The early total depth has also meant that this well has been drilled under the budgeted cost.

Multiple gas readings in excess of 500 units (background gas approximately 50 units) and multiple flares measuring over 20 feet in height were observed during drilling of the 1500 ft interval.

Further updates will be provided as significant developments occur.

Empyrean has a 7.5% working interest in this well.

Commenting today, Empyrean executive director Tom Kelly stated 'The gas readings and flares provide great encouragement for Empyrean on this well. We look forward to the testing in due course.'
