You know JS I've been thinking...if you're experiencing problems with these students one to one, then you must be too young and good looking for your own good! ;>)

Don't even joke about it. It's more a case that when one of them comes to you and wants to say something confidential, you cannot legally turn them away, but you have to listen which means you then get the stress of trying to sort out there lives for them. For example; What do you do when a 14 year old tells you she's pregnant and it's the step fathers?

Difficult, all you can do is point out the organisations that may be able to help her or suggest she sees her Dr - one of those jobs where you have to stay detached but understandably very difficult, as I said, not a career I would want but I have full respect for those who do enter the profession - not for the faint hearted that's for sure!

Unfortunately, as soon as a minor tells you something that is potentially a danger to themselves, you become responsible. In a classroom teaching scenario, you pass it on to to your head who'll pass it on to the attached health representative. In one to one, there's no one to pass it on to, and unfortunately with the 'Soap Opera' mentality of certain mothers you can quickly find yourself in a very difficult situation.

Good morning. The tea and breakfast is all ready and I am going to have a double helping since I am rather peckish. I shall then have a bucket of sherry trifle.
Now, what's all this about the English being eccentric?

Don't ask me Socs!
Morning MM - it had been a long day yesterday, hence mistaking woollen with wooden cos by then everything was looking the same to me ;>)
Tea's up people - incident of national importance in the burrow today - the kettle has stopped working! This is a major issue - using an old gas kettle on the hob, it works as long as you decide you want a cup of tea 1/2 hour before you want it!

Good morning Bunny, Since I have a cup of tea about every 30 minutes that won't be a problem.

Good morning stockbunny and Socrates (not certain if it's good night for Mighty Micro)
You could always use the urn in the imaginary coffee house stockbunny. Mind you, at least you will be able to get warmer using that gas flame. It was cool yesterday.

It's been on the cool side for days - sure its June? More like April!
Will be off to purchase a new electric kettle this morning, don't realise how convenient and fast they are until you don't have one!

Bunny, odd thing about eccentric kettles, expensive ones don't seem to last five minutes but cheap ones seem to last forever.
Good morning Bluelady, how are we this morning?

Socs - see thats the annoying bit, I've always bought the same pretty cheap Morphie Richards one for that reason, it just makes the tea and works well for years, but this last one has had a very short life really. Still I'll buy the same again but if it also lasts onyl a few years I'll have to re-think...
