SEFTON RESOURCES INC - UNDERRATED OIL PRODUCER (SER)

ptholden - 04 Aug 2006 19:53

???

Sefton Resources is an independent AIM quoted Oil and Gas company operating in the US. The companys principal current assets are two producing oilfields in California (Tapia Canyon Field and Eureka Canyon Field); it is also in the process of buying up prospective coal bed methane acreage (CBM) in Kansas.

Update from July 2007 AGM

Finance

I revealed in my annual statement that discussions were well advanced with
Banking institutions. The final phase of the agreement with a suitable bank
without complex and restrictive terms is now very near. This is weeks away
rather than months.

Oil

Oil production at Tapia has averaged 4,100 BO during the last five months. Which
is in line with last years levels. Once this finance is in place we will be able
to move ahead with drilling.

Drilling

We have stayed close to drilling contractors and we are ready to move forward
quickly when this finance is available.

Steam generation

The equipment is now in place at Tapia. Preparation time is needed to connect
the equipment and carry out the necessary trials required to get the main work
started. We anticipate this steaming will start in the next couple of months. If
successful a significant amount of oil resources will move into the Proven
Producing Reserves category.

Joint Ventures

Discussions continue with a number of interested parties to develop our Anderson
counties gas assets.

New finance team

A new CFO has been appointed with good knowledge and experience of the oil
industry. A new assistant to undertake all the daily needs has also been
appointed.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

Sefton has two oil fields, both producing. One is already profitable, and the other is breaking even. This should generate good cashflow for the company over the medium term.
Sefton owns 100% of both its major oil interests and is now demerging its non-controlled oil interests in order to concentrate on those where it has full control (Sefton has recently disposed of its Canadian assets for CDN450k cash).
Sefton is establishing a track record of using modern extraction technologies to improve the efficiency of its fields.

WEAKNESSES:

Sefton has suffered from a number of one-off factors. While these were out of the companys control the problems it has faced since 2002 have held back development and taken up management time. Investor disenchantment may account for the current low rating.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Sefton has acquired acreage for CBM (coal bed methane) in Kansas. CBM gas production is a thriving market and Sefton believes it has acquired the acreage at advantageous prices. While this is a longer term prospect it is an exciting one and could eventually eclipse the oil interests.
There are a number of other fields in the Ventura Basin and more generally in California as a whole that Sefton may look to target now its cash flows are stronger.
Eureka is a semi-exploration play which may contain further upside. This cannot yet be evaluated.
At this valuation the company may prove an attractive target for a larger player.

THREATS

Owing to its geographical location the company continues to be exposed to the threat of bush fires, canyon floods and geological interruption (earthquake risk). Sefton is taking steps to mitigate this risk by investing in Kansas and although Forest Basin area is susceptible to tornados - gas facilities have a minimal surface footprint.

Biding now 7.75p, but they have been paying over the bid when we were 7.50p, they may now be paying almost 8p on the bid

relishing - 02 Apr 2008 15:33 - 1650 of 2350

Just tried a dummy trade, they are bidding 8p now.

driver - 02 Apr 2008 15:57 - 1651 of 2350

This is getting better day by day a nice steady rise.

kuzemko - 02 Apr 2008 16:30 - 1652 of 2350

did someone say 25p target???

driver - 02 Apr 2008 16:36 - 1653 of 2350

kuzemko
Not a ramp but 25p+ with the new wells and steaming then up to 50p+ with the CBM I.M.O

aldwickk - 02 Apr 2008 16:58 - 1654 of 2350

Sold a small amount at 8p today

kuzemko - 02 Apr 2008 17:17 - 1655 of 2350

50p would most definitally bring happy days.i was comparing ser prospect against other recent descovering and oil/gas companies and 40p seem very possible

relishing - 02 Apr 2008 17:52 - 1656 of 2350

Hardman&Co valued SER at 28p conditional on steaming being viable. Its not quite a foregone conclusion yet but all indications currently are that it will be. This was using an oil price (WTI) of $70/barrel, so using current and foreseeable oil prices talk of 40p/50p may not be that far out.
And additionally that valuation was based solely on the Californian ops, specifically Tapia Canyon - nothing in there for Kansas/CBM at all.

ptholden - 02 Apr 2008 20:18 - 1657 of 2350

Chart says 7.88p, you will have to wait a bit longer for the update :)

rhino213 - 03 Apr 2008 08:57 - 1658 of 2350

you lazy.....

capetown - 03 Apr 2008 09:20 - 1659 of 2350

Good start to the day for SER?
Not seen a spread this tight ever with small volume, lets hope this encourages trading.

driver - 03 Apr 2008 09:43 - 1660 of 2350

Couldnt resist another top up yesterday I am confident this will be in double figures very soon.

HARDMAN Report for April nothing new that we dont already know just an update on the progress

SEFTON RESOURCES
On the back of its update on the recent Q1 Tapia Field drilling campaign Sefton has now confirmed that it commenced steaming on the Yule #7 well testing its proposed cyclic- steam production enhancement program for the Tapia Field.

Mid-month Sefton updated the market with regard to its four most recently drilled wells at Tapia Field. All four of the wells were successful with log results indicating the new wells each encountered more than 90 ft of oil prone Yule sands.

The result of this drilling program is that it effectively and simultaneously extends the known productive area of the field out both to the east and west. The new wells are being connected to electrical facilities and tied in to the field-wide flow line system for production.

During the drilling campaign, natural gas bearing sandstones around 20ft in thickness were identified in all four wells at approximately 800 feet depth.

In the Snow area, these results verify and expand earlier volumetric mapping of the gas sands that had been tested in December, 2003 and from which Sefton is in the process of piping to the steam generator.

The gas sand identified in the Lackie #A-4 well was previously unknown and may add to the natural gas reserve base. No gas sands had previously been mapped east of the Hartje #2 well, which is located approximately 700 feet west of the recently drilled Lackie #A-4 well.

Water processing facilities the Tapia Field have also been improved effectively doubling the amount of produced water that can be processed. This should allow Sefton to add new wells to the production stream while accommodating for water production spikes during the cyclic steaming program.
