Easyjet - growth to take-off (EZJ)

thestatusquo - 07 Apr 2004 17:46

draw?modeMA=Simple&enableMA=true&epic=EZ

March passenger and load figures confirm growth trend at Europe's main budget airline.

Present share price may provide a good medium term buying opportunity, given recent broker upgrades to 380pence.

Consensus EPS for Sep 04 is 20.7p, rising to 26.8p in 05, and 35.3p in 06. Given the new routes announced recently, these forecasts are probably too cautious. A PEG ratio well below 1, puts this stock in the growth-value category, and well worth holding for the next 12-24 months.

All IMHO.

easyJet June passengers up 28 pct; load factor 86 pct
AFX

LONDON (AFX) - easyJet PLC, the Luton-based low-cost airline that issued its second profit warning in less than five weeks early last month, said it carried 2.24 mln passengers in June, an increase of 28 pct on the same month last year.

Load factor -- passengers as a proportion of the number of seats available -- was 86 pct, the same as last year and compared to 81 pct in May.

Ray Webster, chief executive, said the figures were in line with its June 6 statement.

'We continue to capitalise on our market and financial strengths -- last month we began new services to Cologne, announced that we would base a further three new aircraft at Berlin (bringing the total to nine) and added five new routes from London Gatwick.'

easyJet's rolling 12-month revenue to end-June was 1.03 bln stg, up 21 pct, while the rolling 12-month passenger total and load factor was 22.9 mln and 84 pct respectively.

The airline's June 6 update forecast a year to end-September 2004 pretax profit that 'at least' exceeds the 52 mln stg achieved last time -- assuming a slight easing in global oil prices, that sterling remains reasonably strong against the US dollar, and a stable geopolitical environment.

Earlier this week Stelios Haji-Ioannou, easyJet's founder, was linked with a possible move to take it private.

Reports suggested Haji-Ioannou, who stepped down as easyJet chairman in 2002, plans to fund a 650 mln stg bid by selling his family's interest in the Stelmar shipping business, borrowing, or teaming up with a private-equity or venture capital group.

Haji-Ioannou's easyGroup Holdings Ltd vehicle holds 16.6 pct of easyJet's equity. His brother Polys and sister Clelia hold a further 24 pct.

easyJet's shares closed Tuesday at 150 pence, valuing the company at 599.4 mln stg.

These are looking good at this price, it looks like the fall was unjustified.

3 blocks of 1/2 Million were bought in the last 1/2 hour.

Johan Bernard - 25 Sep 2004 11:02 - 19 of 159

Where are we going from here? What price will be reasonable to start to buy this stock at?

mitzy - 25 Sep 2004 16:17 - 20 of 159

Maggot - 11 Oct 2004 20:42 - 24 of 159

Am in EZJ from 220, and while I dumped the CFD I'm hanging on to the shares in an isa on the assumption that eventually they will go back. But goodness knows where the floor is. If they drop to around 115 I think I'll bail out and keep a watch on them ready to possibly buy back. Surely the company can't be worth only 40% of what it was a few months ago?

seawallwalker - 11 Oct 2004 21:42 - 25 of 159

Can't believe this any nmore than WLF!

Where they go, nobody knows..................

Good luck all.

daves dazzlers - 14 Oct 2004 20:38 - 26 of 159

maggot,you would think not!

seawallwalker - 15 Oct 2004 08:02 - 27 of 159

If they go to 115p to 118 again they are a sound buy for me.

I give those prices because I find it hard to believe that they got there in the first place.

Surely a sound buy with good return prospects.

All imo etc.

daves dazzlers - 15 Oct 2004 08:06 - 28 of 159

you will be very lucky at those figures sw.

emailpat - 19 Oct 2004 12:33 - 29 of 159

So is this the turn?

seawallwalker - 19 Oct 2004 12:40 - 30 of 159

Dont get carried away.

One good day for the market as a whole does not mean a price recovery for any particular stock.

daves dazzlers - 19 Oct 2004 13:09 - 31 of 159

early days but showing promise, afternoon sw how`s the oil & gas business.

seawallwalker - 19 Oct 2004 14:48 - 32 of 159

Bubbling underground.

Had a few small gains by you standard, but it's money in the bank.

Sitting long on SEY and PRE both in profit and waiting for developements so I am quite pleased.

Tried to get back into retail and got me fingers burnt on SOF which dipped below support as it was then, and has continued to stay there.

I did a bit of afterwards market research in your style, and visited a few Somerfields.

I was worried about what I saw, not many customers, prces at the top end, and I hate the card scheme, where you have to have one or you don't get any bogof's etc.

Recipe for disaster in my book.

No wonder their growth is so slow!

Got money to play, just don't know where to put it.

Like EZJ as you have seen but I feel I can do better than current levels, with patience.

Brown and Jackson is a mystery...............

WLW does not dip below 42.5p on a bad day, I still suspect poor autumn sales there.

That leaves me looking at what you are doing, as things seem okay mostly....

daves dazzlers - 19 Oct 2004 17:12 - 33 of 159

sw did you get the email i sent.

seawallwalker - 19 Oct 2004 17:51 - 34 of 159

Just read through once, I'll have a better look and be in touch.

thanks
