Its the Leith Walk store I order from. Ordered a pizza last night to try out online ordering through the Dominos website. Worked very well. I think that will bring in a lot of extra money. You can now browse the menu and pay over the internet. i always hated having to find cash for the delivery guy when he turned up. I may wait till the share price dips a little in the lull between quarterly results and top up my holding. This share isnt ever going to sky rocket but it seems a pretty safe investment to me. Still lots of room for growth. Leith Walk store is too busy especially on weekends.

Ted1 - 03 Aug 2005 01:08 - 18 of 841

Every store is busy on weekends. But what about the rest of the week?
Internet is ok but there are no deals online so you pay a premium.
Phone the store direct to get the best price.
Massive expansion plan but they are cutting down on the established franchisee delivery area. Only so many people will order pizza.
Huge increase in oil price thus petrol price. Any business that is dependant on petrol is adverse to price increases to compensate.
All negative? But I tell you how I see it.
Not an investor. But a ?

captainmerton - 04 Aug 2005 17:51 - 19 of 841

There aint a business in the country that wont be slightly affected by petrol price increases. If you are talking about pizza delivery then i think the delivery radius's are too small to affect profits noticeably. As for your "what about the rest of the week" comment. That is not something new. It will have been a pressure on their margins since they set up 20 years ago and it hasnt affected growth. The big threats I see are if the general public lose interest in pizzas or healthy eating campaigns target fast food. The way i see it, there is still huge room for growth so why shouldn't the company continue to grow and do well. Not saying I'm right, just my opinions.

cm/Ted- Can't see oil being a big issue. In fact, if there is a recession, I think people stay at home and order in, rather than go out to eat. It is part of our culture now.

My daughter, a student, thinks the prices are high at Dominos. However, my friend who owns the franchises commented that the newer lines just fly out of the door and that mid-week, they do particularly good business if there are football matches, etc. on TV.

What is relevant to us is the share price and that has certainly performed well and the results have spoken for themselves.

Doesn't sound like your sort of stock Ted but I am up in excess of 250% plus the tax advantages of long term holding of AIM stocks, so I am in for the foreseeable future!

captainmerton - 14 Sep 2005 17:19 - 21 of 841

Any idea what has caused the big drop today? Is it just market nerves and given that we are between the quarterly results the share usually falls back or is it something more?

captainmerton - 19 Sep 2005 19:00 - 22 of 841

Any views on todays tender offer?

What i dont understand is if this offer is taken up in full it represents 4% of the companys shares thus such an amount will have an effect on the EPS figure. Are we to assume that Dominos need to cancel these shares to meet their EPS growth targets? If not then surely the share price should rise.

Also this is a major director sale. What should we make of this?

jj50 - 19 Sep 2005 21:01 - 23 of 841

captainmerton,

I would agree and expect a share price rise following the tender being taken up - that is exactly what happened last time they did this. Am not too worried about the size of the director sale, Helmsley would still hold 2,000,000 shares and Halpern, 7,440,497 shares.

As usual, somebody knew something in advance hence the drop in price at the end of last week. Good to see it strengthen today. I won't be tempted to sell my holding - still seem to be positive vibes.

PGV4 - 12 Dec 2005 16:51 - 24 of 841

As usual we are now getting the December rise in price. If the new Dominator pizza is going well we should see a positive statement relating to the last 6 weeks of 2005, due around 10/1/06.

captainmerton - 12 Dec 2005 20:29 - 25 of 841

PGV4,

I hope so. I am confident their website will continue to boost profits as well. I used it about 6 months ago and found I still had to pay the delivery man in cash. Shortly after however they introduced a credit/debit card facilility which means everything done online and just sit back and wait for delivery. You can specify your required time of delivery as well thus can order hours in advance. Seems like a well run company to me. No delusions of grandeur. Straightforward business model.

PGV4 - 13 Dec 2005 17:34 - 26 of 841

Captainmerton,

I agree. Today up 3.26%.

jj50 - 16 Dec 2005 09:02 - 27 of 841

Don't forget, trading statement on Monday

captainmerton - 06 Jan 2006 18:24 - 31 of 841

JJ50,

Onwards and upwards. I reckon it should get to about 400-420 after annual results are announced in late Feb. Didnt know there was a trading statement on Monday.

jj50 - 06 Jan 2006 22:49 - 32 of 841

Fingers crossed, captain!

Only heard about the trading statement
by chance - mentioned on Working Lunch today!

captainmerton - 09 Jan 2006 19:46 - 33 of 841

What happened to the trading statement? Sunday Times also said Dominos would report to the merket today and yet nothing.

jj50 - 09 Jan 2006 22:55 - 34 of 841

captain merton, Traders' Thread header also said DOM would be reporting under EGM/AGM title this morning. I haven't been able to find any news either - puzzling.

Just checked their website - no action mentioned until the 11th January.

jj50 - 10 Jan 2006 08:11 - 35 of 841

The statement published this morning.

Domino's Pizza UK & IRL plc

Trading Update

Domino's Pizza UK & IRL plc ("the Company" or "Domino's") today announces total
like-for-like sales growth of 7.1% for the 52 weeks ended 1 January 2006 (53
weeks 2004: 6.6%). Like-for-like sales for the six weeks to 1 January 2006
increased by 3.6% (2004: 13.2%), capping another year of strong sales growth for
the Company.

In the Christmas period, sales via the Company's e-commerce platforms showed
robust growth of 57.6% demonstrating the continued move towards online and
interactive TV ordering. E-commerce now generates 11.5% of all delivered pizza
sales for Domino's in the UK.

The Company also continued to deliver against its aggressive expansion targets
with the opening of 50 new stores (2004: 40), bringing the year-end store count
to 407.

Stephen Hemsley, Chief Executive, commented, "Domino's Pizza has produced
another year of strong system sales growth. We were up against very challenging
comparatives over the Christmas period so I was particularly pleased that we
beat them. The opening of 50 new stores in 2005 fully meets our target for the
year and exceeds most commentators' expectations. As a result, I am confident
that your Company will deliver full year results ahead of current market
expectations."

captainmerton - 10 Jan 2006 08:40 - 36 of 841

Cheers JJ50. Strength to stregth for Dominos. Confident of beating market expectations. All good. 2006 figures should be boosted by the World Cup too.
