I didn't manage to see that, what as the general gist of the positiveness?

daves dazzlers - 14 Nov 2004 20:29 - 171 of 217

Queen1,,,Interview with john king , one year on from there ,major problems, the story is very different he claims, product availability is up from 75%/90% , he also belives mtn is better suited to cope with price deflation,he says the business can drive more volume with promotional offers and it is able to keep prices low thanks to clever sourcing.
Last year it was about getting the business stabilised, this year it is about building for growth, the buying team has been restructured, with more items bought at last minute, king has hired buyers from,monsoon/next/m&s,to boost quality, which is so good, mtn has been able to increase prices for some items, last year a winter coat was 35,this year they are 40,average prices year on year have gone down 5%,,but there top end items, have risen.
To sum the story up,judging by kings enthusiasm,it could be a good one for matalan

Just a brief summary queen1..

daves dazzlers - 15 Nov 2004 14:55 - 172 of 217

Small bit of weight today, and a few buys ..

queen1 - 11 Jan 2005 22:33 - 189 of 217

Solid but SP down. Same at Topps Tiles. Great results all round (especially considering the other retail results since Xmas) but SP in retreat :-(
