Cynic: I've been reading good things about DOM but have not been following it particularly. Think their results to end 2007 should be good. Link here to an article; also in The Sunday Times recently.

Domino Pizza - Sunday Times article 13Jan2008

cynic - 14 Jan 2008 19:50 - 174 of 841

while their update may be encouraging (RTN's was hardly bad!) it does not explain the huge surge late this afternoon .... just possibly bear closing, and certainly far too dangerous waters to enter without news

Toya ... don't you dare, or i shall personally tan your arse ... and not with Kiwi boot polish either!

Toya - 15 Jan 2008 10:23 - 175 of 841

You offering to take me on a nice sunny holiday then Cynic, where I can tan myself?? Might beat the rain up here in the Lakes, though clouds are lifting.

cynic - 15 Jan 2008 10:48 - 176 of 841

can easily make your arse glow, but not sure that it would go a golden brown afterwards!

cynic - 15 Jan 2008 14:09 - 177 of 841

extraordinary ..... +20/30 yesterday without any news and suddenly today -25/30 also without any news

Toya ..... had you dived in, you would have had your wallet tanned, never mind your backside!

Toya - 15 Jan 2008 14:58 - 178 of 841

Cynic: I had no intention of 'diving' in - there's quite enough water here for me to drown in. Had merely commented on how I'd read their results were supposed to be good.

cynic - 15 Jan 2008 15:06 - 179 of 841

damn! was hoping to give you a good spanking - lol

Toya - 15 Jan 2008 15:10 - 180 of 841

Tough - no doubt there'll be other opportunities

Chimp Choker - 06 Feb 2008 15:43 - 181 of 841

MoneyAM
"Domino's Pizza said today sales increased by 18.4% to 350.8m in the year to December 28th.

Like-for-like sales in 450 mature stores were up by 10%. (2007: 14.7% in 404 stores)

Pretax profit increased 24.7% to 23.4m (2007: 18.7m), while earnings per share were up over 28%.

The conpany increased total dividend by 34% to 5.9p per share.

Domino's said 52 new stores opened in the year and none closed, resulting in a total of 553 stores operating at the year end.

E-commerce continued to drive business with online sales of 55.9m (2007: 32.2m), an increase of 73.7%, representing 23.3% of delivered sales.

Commenting on the results CEO, Chris Moore, said: 'I am delighted to report another excellent set of results this year, which reflects great momentum in the business with like-for-like sales growth of 10.0%, building on the very strong performance in 2007. This growth has been achieved while continuing our aggressive expansion programme, with a record 52 new stores successfully opened during the year, bringing the total number of stores at the year end to 553 and leaving us on track to exceed our target of at least 1,000 stores in the next 10 years.

'Our growth continues to be driven by our unfaltering focus and passion for the delivery of our three key priorities - namely great quality pizza, outstanding customer service and innovative marketing that resonates with our customers. This combination has resulted in total system sales increasing by 18.4% and profit before tax, pre-exceptionals, up 24.7%.

'We have had an exceptional start to 2009, with like-for-like sales for the first six weeks up 15% (2008: 11%). While we are delighted with this performance, we face some very tough comparatives and an unpredictable economic environment.

'Our store opening programme continues apace and plans for another 50 new store openings this year are well underway with numerous sites in the pipeline.

'We are confident that we are well positioned for another year of strong growth.'

Domino's created 1,600 new jobs in 2008, taking the total number of employees in the system to over 18,000. "

this has to be about the only high street or restaurant stock to be invested in

HARRYCAT - 17 Feb 2009 14:55 - 184 of 841

Sadly it totally fell off my radar until someone phoned me this morning to tell me of the results and sp rise. Company is doing well & maybe worth getting on board. Back on my watch list.

cynic - 17 Feb 2009 15:22 - 185 of 841

i used to have and to follow too, but have not bought any high street or related stocks for some time

one of two restaurant companies i like - other is RTN - though have not been following for a while

HARRYCAT - 20 Jul 2009 11:33 - 189 of 841

It fell off my radar also, which is a shame as the sp has done very nicely recently.
Looks like 2nd half year sales won't be so strong, so have missed the boat this time.
