Falkland Oil and Gas continues miraculous recovery

24 hours ago, Falkland Oil and Gas was sitting below 60p, right now its up 8% to 79.5p or over 30% in a day. On Monday lunchtime the company issued a drilling update which precipitated a fall for the day from the 90’s to the low 60p range (with 57p at its low) - the wording of the RNS was interpreted that no hydrocarbons had been found despite the fact that the Loligo well had still not reached target depth. The key word is “interpretation” since the FOGL board actually said very little. For whatever reason, a major holder of the shares decided to dump a significant volume and after Range Resources and Chariot’s recent duster’s where the big seller started, the private investor followed.

With news due on Friday or Monday with the final wireline logging result, this could be the most dramatic manipulation of AIM ever if the result turns out to be positive or yet another example of a stampede on sentiment (positive and negative). Watching from the sidelines here, but fascinating to see what happens with this one. Will it be a Desire or a Rockhopper??

Can somebody explian the process involved in testing the well once drilled.

What is wireline logging, how long does it take to analyze etc.

Actually it refers to a suite of tools you can use.

How long it takes and how many different tools you use depends on what you find.

Basic logging is quite quick.

If the basic wireline logging shows nothing of importance - you stop.

If there is something there you then run additional tools to check :

Porosity
Permeability
Fluid samples
Pressure testing of various zones
etc.. etc.. etc..

Basic logging in a couple of days, full suite in 5 to 6 days

so can we read into this that the longer it takes means they might have something of interest.

i.e if it was a duster they would know by now and we would all be down the pub.

As a rule of thumb yes, the longer it takes to log the more chance they have something to investigate.

Ok so i have a few questions as im quite new at this. I only have a toe dipped and dont really know the ins and outs like some on here.

So, if i look at the days buys and sells. Today there are lots more buys. How does this work. How can you buy more than what is sold. If i had a market stall and it had 20 apples to sell, i couldnt sell 50 apples, only 20. So how can there be 3 million buys and 2 million sells. Dont they have to match up.

Might be a dumb question to some but just trying to understand and learn.

or even morons! ...... a city truism is that bad numbers take far longer to add up than good ...... very happy to be proved wrong, but i still think it's very short odds on a duster ..... i guess it's possible they found traces of other than sand and may well be trying to determine a way to present a bettrer than horrific picture - e.g. it'll help us understand the structure much better or some other paliative crap

note that before the rns sp hovered between 88 and 94, and this morning has slipped back from 78 to 72 though order book now weighted towards buyers
