08.11.2006, 21.28

BISHKEK, November 8 (Itar-Tass) - The majority of Kyrgyz parliament members passed a new version of the constitution in the first and second readings on Wednesday.

The draft had been previously approved by the opposition and the presidential administration.

The draft constitution was passed by a 65-1 vote with sixty-seven of 75 MPs present.

After the national anthem was played, the session was declared closed. The draft constitution was handed over to Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev for signature.

The new constitution increases the number of seats in the parliament from 75 to 90. Half of the parliament will be elected by party lists. The prime minister will be nominated by the political party that received over 50 percent of votes in elections. The nomination has to be confirmed by the parliament.

The parliament will also confirm the structure of the government to be proposed by the prime minister. The president will appoint ministers to be suggested by the prime minister.

The new constitution allows Kyrgyzstans residents to acquire a second citizenship and makes Russian an official language.

The incumbent president, government and parliament will carry on until the end of their terms of office.

Constitutional reform was the main demand of the opposition whose supporters have been protesting in the central square of Bishkek for almost a week. Two days ago the supporters of the president set up their tent city in front of the parliament building. On November 7 they nearly clashed and police had to use tear gas and other special means to keep two camps apart. Seventeen policemen and six protesters were injured.

The warring factions said they would stop mass protests after the adoption of the new constitution.

smiler thinking about selling at 31.5 taking my profit and running. What do you reckon I have a small holding of 20,000 I bought yesterday morning at .26.5p, the only thing is there are a lot of people buying this morning. Do you think they are worth haning onto?

cynic - 09 Nov 2006 08:42 - 182 of 817

JB .... given your badly over-exposed position in super-high-risk stocks, at the very least you should set a very tight stop loss

smiler o - 09 Nov 2006 08:46 - 183 of 817

JB yes just had a look there is a lot of buys, I am holding till 35 + before I sell how long this will take I dont know it could be to day or next month ? I am in profit my ave is 17p ish so happy to wait. :)

janetbennison - 09 Nov 2006 09:02 - 184 of 817

Cynic and smiler there are such a lot of people buying that I have bought another 50,000 at .33p and I am taking cynics advice and I am now going to leave a tight stop loss on both of these trades. The way its going smiler I think we will get the ,35p today. I really would not be surprised. Does any one know why they are going up so fast?

janetbennison - 09 Nov 2006 09:11 - 185 of 817

both my stop losses have just kicked in I have sold the 20,000 at .335p and the 50000 at 33.75p I took your advice cynic now I am out of it. Good luck every one.

janetbennison - 09 Nov 2006 09:12 - 186 of 817

they have sold the 50000 at .335 as well. A small profit on that one.

smiler o - 09 Nov 2006 09:17 - 187 of 817

JB, I always scan the papers and will hold on I think !! I have been with Oxs for some time now, and in A good position : )

janetbennison - 09 Nov 2006 09:23 - 188 of 817

I may buy back in later if they fall a little. I will not buy the 70,000 back but maybe around 30,000. I will let you know later. good look. Cynic have you bought any of these shares? I forgot earlier to ask you. I have made 1710.00 pounds prof this week on this one.

smiler o - 09 Nov 2006 09:38 - 189 of 817

JB , I dont think cynic is in oxs I recall " it is bad logic to average down in such a dodgy stock" and that was when the sp was at 10p !! ITs all best to DYOR !! : )

cynic - 09 Nov 2006 09:39 - 190 of 817

NO, and can't say i am sorry ...... have followed it vaguely and all looks far too dodgy to me ..... looks to be totally reliant on getting favourable court judgements and being able to enforce them, and that is is in "bandit country" too!

janetbennison - 09 Nov 2006 16:58 - 191 of 817

I did buy back this morn 30,000 at .33p then a little later another 20,000 at .3275p. SOLD THEM ALL LATER THIS AFTERNOON AT .34P. have you still got yours smiler? I may buy some more back tomorow if they drop a little. good luck. I made around 450 on this deal.

smiler o - 09 Nov 2006 17:01 - 192 of 817

JB good for you and yes still holding I may sell half tomorrow though !! : )

cynic - 09 Nov 2006 17:06 - 193 of 817

even though there is only a 0.50p spread, there is still commission and presumably stamp duty ...... just about paid the paper bill!

capetown - 09 Nov 2006 17:07 - 194 of 817
