Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

RKH will be climbing to new highs in the months ahead, potentially around 300% higher by year end.

No need to look at something like AVM, just keep hold of your RKH shares, as I have said since 30p levels.

I have made more profit than anyone here, simple by buying and holding.

No stress and no messy trading.

Mr P .... i'll say it yet again .... you have made zero profit until you bank it .... however, i do agree that in this instance, buying and holding has been the less stressful and possibly the most profitable .... but again, you could have done similarly with SEO, NOP and any number of others, and lost your shirt ..... hindsight's great!

Balerboy - 15 Jun 2010 07:57 - 1769 of 6294

Am glad you said above cynic....i wouldn't have been so polite...

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 08:10 - 1770 of 6294

Balerboy - 15 Jun 2010 08:14 - 1771 of 6294

I wish........ what a field day I'd have with your deep pockets....

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 08:15 - 1772 of 6294

they're only deep because there's almost nothing in them! .... and i have short arms to prevent me reaching the loose change for the deserving poor

btw, i shall be cycling down to b-on-avon next week - with an excellent dinner at the harrow (little bedwyn) en route

Balerboy - 15 Jun 2010 08:21 - 1773 of 6294

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 08:25 - 1774 of 6294

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 09:12 - 1780 of 6294

chav - 15 Jun 2010 10:23 - 1781 of 6294

If CGT moves to 40% then then I'm still better off keeping my profit rolling here because I think RKH sp will outperform the 40% between now and the end of the tax year.

halifax - 15 Jun 2010 10:31 - 1782 of 6294

chav pretty obvious you would keep 60% of any gain, however the real question is if the rate of CGT goes up when will be the effective date of such a change and by how much will the rate go up.

chav - 15 Jun 2010 10:45 - 1783 of 6294

Sell now with 100K profit and pay 40K cgt...less deductibles....60K in the hand

Hold and sell at 5.70 with 200K profit and pay 80K cgt.....120K in the hand

Whilst I'm just basing it on a move in CGT up to 40% as a worst case, I still feel that it's better to hold for a rise in sp than selling in panic of a rise in CGT.

30 day rule annoys me more because it stops me selling any now and hoping to buy back in at a lower sp within 30 days .

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 10:56 - 1784 of 6294

excuse me, but from where did you find this mystical or even mythical 570?

chav - 15 Jun 2010 11:03 - 1785 of 6294

lol...just keeping the maths simple cynic as in double present value!!...just want to show how I view the CGT debate and decision making...so long as the sp out performs CGT I gain by holding....personally think the sp will reach 5.70 ok, should the flow test of Sealion and Ernest come up Trump's...no guarantees in this game1

cynic - 15 Jun 2010 11:23 - 1786 of 6294

believe it when you see it .... ernest hasn't even been spudded yet, let alone proven
