Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Anything above 15K sterling is a good buy size. The Chairman buying 70K value of stock is a good sign, a very good sign.
And if you bother to research who RKH's Chairman is, meaning his career as opposed to him being Pierre Jungels, you will appreciate what a big vote of confidence it is for him to buy a decent amount like that !

Dr Pierre Jungels CBE has fingers in a great number of pies. His purchase of RKH shares is miniscule compared to his holdings in other companies, many of which are large multi-nationals. He probably found the cash to buy these shares down the back of the sofa!

I doubt that Pierre Jungels amassed his cash pile by being dumb with his cash so can not see him just throwing 70K down the drain somehow!

Dr. Jungels is a Director of Baker Hughes Inc in Texas. Also Chairman of Oxford Catalysts plc. He is also a director of Woodside Petroleum Ltd. and Imperial Tobacco Group plc & Chairman of Rockhopper Petroleum. I am not deramping to say that Jungels financial interests in all of the other companies is far greater than that in RKH.

There are lots of positions he held in the past, one of which you mention, but they are all history. Expertise yes, but no financial interest.

Dr Jungels is one of the heavyweights in the petroleum industry.
Which is why when he buys RKH its a big vote of confidence in whats coming next.
Flow test of Sea Lion, success = 750p a share, ignoring everything else....... :)

lol...I wonder how much the sp would have dropped if they had sold the same amount of shares and I'm sure there would have been the odd cat on here claiming it was a major vote of no confidence in Ernest/Sealion flowtest!

I think that topic has been well & truly flogged to death! Various opinions & we have agreed to differ on the importance of that.
