Mes amities / Bonne matins mes amies ! ,,,and what with Shell stumping up an initial $100m to farm into a 50% interest in a number of NAK {a subsidiary of Ukraines state controlled energy company- Naftogaz } licenses/ jv's in the gas rich Dniepr-Donets basin with access to deep potential resavoirs, which partly lie beneath large scale shallower acreage already in production the spectre of " Big Oil " rears its face once again in this region . Both BP and Shell and a plethora of foreign players are rapidly realising that the Ukraine serves not only as the foodbasket of the urban Russias but is equally rich in energy reserves with an abundance of infrastructure geared to oil/ gas transit to both east and West . .. ln short; With constuctive investment it will prove to be one of the globes most productive gas fields/ producers .,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.Malcom Brinded, Shells executive director for exploration and production said " This is a significant move in our strategy to add more integrated gas to our portfolio " ..Need i say more ? . All this begs the question ; Will Shell whose agenda is well known in the city take out a player of the stature of JKX ............................................................................................................. .To add to the good Dr's input which raises a very moot point ; Cardinal Res { CDL } stated that since market inclusion on AIM in summer of 2005 their gas receipts from the Ukranians have risen a tad in excess of 34 % . Same story at JKX , l would have presumed . As for CDL: With acreage spread all over the eastern side of the Dniepr basin at Bilousivsko-Chornukhinska, North Yablunivska , Dubrivska , Ukrgazvydobovunannya and the Rudivsko Chernovozavodske ( a field alone assayed independantly to have in excess of 1.5 t scuffs of gas en situ).... l would advise anyone, especially those who saw the merits of JKX at the pre 40p level and acted accordingly in making a purchase , to add this stock to respective watchlists .This stock which witnessed a single trade on thursday ( 19/1 } of a mere 10,000 yet the Friday saw a volume of in excess of 20 million as a couple of institutions took principal positions . ln addition CDL directors { unlike those at JKX } have opened thier own cheque books and are busily buying thier own shares @the 22-28 level on the open market ..lf things are so rosy at CDL then i could imagine the story at JKX will be very similar . ......But one thing is undisputeable ; Due to a catalogue of reasons,socio- economic, geo-political ,and not least its tiff with the Russias i believe the the results JKX will produce in march will lead to its FTSE 250 inclusion; and even though this milestone was not achieved as a consequence of the sudden hike in the price of gas on the market, the matter will be surely rectified by its corresponding march m/c ante the actual results ...What with sweeter oils such as WTI and L.Red @$68.43c p/b and the HH gas price @ $9.28c per MMBTO and what with current variables such as trouble in Nigeria and lran the price will remain bullish for some time yet . ..........lf you found JKX attractive ; then CDL is a minnow worth casting an eye over . For from little acorns do great oaks grow; and it is about time a thread was initiated for CDL !. .. Bonne chance / a'bientot . @+ J

Amities Roly / ,,l believe you have been seen at various bespoken car dealers eyeing up new Ferraris while waving loadsa money at a bevy of young females ? , ls this true Roly , you cad ,,,lol ? ...............................................................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.BB have a valid point... Buying vol short of 500k; yet a 8% percentile gain in s/p . Todays trading does not justify this latest gush in JKX . MMS are walking it up .The devious miscreants . See in sats FT about various mms court appearances inc head of market making at Evo ; and there is nothing these sods wont do when they get bored lol ... . l'm not complaining;but even i expected the price to be a little soft today. .The last really significant trade was 600,000 @ 290 odd ...The remainder are nothing of which to take much note yet here we sit on an interday high of 355 Good though as keeps shorters at bay !!!,,, The market is a sea of red except for us oilies !!!! We are here to stay in blue ,,Only thing that bothers me is The FD's selling at a fraction of todays s/p . lt is not as if he was selling in order to buy zillions of cheap options @ 31.25 ... @+ J

as a guess
the sales by the FD may well be due to CGT issues
he is unlikely to be able to sell shortly as within a closed period
(just a guess)

hyleo,
Yes that's an excellent article IMO, and highlights the early potential of JKX, aprticularly if FTSE 250 entry is secured.
However, the article ommited to mention the various exploration projects JKX has currently under review, ie Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, USA, and offshore Georgia, where they are in a JV with BP amongst others.
I feel the article only told half the story, but I do agree with the "strong buy" recommendation, as I feel we have a long way to go here yet.

Victoria Oil takes off on West Med update
LONDON (ShareCast) - AIM-listed Victoria Oil & Gas (LSE: VOG.L - news) says an independent audit of its West Medvezhye project in Western Siberia has indicated reserves of 1.1bn barrels of oil equivalent.
DeGolyer & MacNaughton, independent reserve auditors, have reported prospective recoverable resource volumes at West Med of 5.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, 146m barrels of gas condensate and 25m barrels of oil.
Total prospective recoverable hydrocarbon resource volume for the entire licence block has been put at 1.1 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
These estimated prospective recoverable resources are dependent on successful discovery and development of the prospects evaluated, said Victoria.
Executive director William Kelleher said, "This is truly exciting news. D&M's conclusions independently confirm a significant prospective recoverable resource volume of 5.5 trillion cubic feet of gas and 170m barrels of recoverable liquids for the entire West Medvezhye licence, including the Well 104 discovery."
"We are on target to obtain the well test results from discovery Well 104 in Q1 and Wells 106 and Well 103 in Q2 2006."

kkeith2000,
My best ever day on the market today, and then some!
JKX were, of course, partly responsible for that, and there could be a few reasons for the sudden rise, or perhaps a combination of all of them?
What are expected (IMO) to be superb results are due in March.
High price of oil and doubling of Ukraine domestic gas prices.
Imminent FTSE 250 entry, possibly institutions are already buying in anticipation?
Takeover rumours within the sector, not necessarily JKX related.
Let's hope the run continues tomorrow, a very strong finish today bodes well perhaps?

A brief synopsis of an article by fat prophets.
JKX was tipped again today by Fat Prophets:-
"JKX Oil & Gas has been a standout performer over the last few years. The group has experienced significant success in the Ukraine, where up until a year ago operations were predominately based. However we are encouraged by the company now diversifying into other regions. More recently interests in Turkey have been added. With oil recently heading back above US$65 a barrel we remain steadfast in the belief that higher energy prices will offer the industry support throughout 2006. In such an environment, JKX's active exploration and development program will be well rewarded in our opinion.
In October JKX announced that it had farmed into two onshore exploration licenses with Aladdin Middle East. The licenses cover 897 square kilometres in the Thrace region of western Turkey. JKX will earn a 25 percent interest, with the first well potentially being drilled in 2007. We are heartened that management remains committed to diversifying reserves and future production. This strategy will de-risk and enhance future earnings in our opinion. In the meantime robust production at Poltova in the Ukraine should continue to underpin earnings in the year ahead. Meanwhile JKX's exploration programme in Italy and Bulgaria is also advancing.
We continue to believe that oil prices will remain stubbornly high for years to come. The tightness of global supply is reinforced by the reaction of oil prices to security concerns in Iran and Nigeria last week. JKX will also benefit from rising gas prices in Ukraine as well. On January 1 Russia suspended gas supplies to the Ukraine, demanding that 'European' prices be paid. To resolve the dispute prices were renegotiated, which has resulted in a general uplift in the cost of gas across the Ukraine. With energy prices rising while production and reserves are increasing, the outlook for earnings growth at JKX is robust. Yet the company's valuation remains far from excessive at around 11 times 2006 earnings.

JKX Oil & Gas PLC
27 January 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 27 JANUARY 2006
JKX OIL & GAS plc
ANNOUNCES
ACQUISITION OF NEW EXPLORATION LICENSE, ONSHORE UKRAINE
JKX Oil & Gas plc ('JKX') announces that it has been awarded the Chervonoyarske
East exploration license, onshore Ukraine, by the State Committee of Ecology and
Mineral Resources of Ukraine. The license covers an area of 5.5 sq km and is
located approximately 75 km from the Company's existing production facilities.
The license is valid for a period of five years for exploration and test
production, following which the Company has the priority right to apply for a
twenty-year production license.
The Chervonoyarske East license was acquired following an open auction held on
the 26 December 2005 by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine. The
auction was the first of its kind in Ukraine.
The Chervonoyarske East license is in the Kharkiv Region and is located on the
northern margin of the Dnieper Donets basin, adjacent to the Chervonoyarske
Field which produces gas condensate from the late Carboniferous sands. The data
package purchased with the license includes 110 km of 2-D seismic data and data
on the six wells drilled on the license to date; two of the wells produced
hydrocarbons under test. The Company intends initially to reprocess the existing
seismic data and shoot additional 2-D seismic to complete the data set. This
will form the basis of the forward work programme.
JKX Oil & Gas plc is an oil and gas exploration and production company listed on
the London Stock Exchange. The company has license interests in Ukraine,
Georgia, Italy, Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia and the United States.
