PIPEX COMMUNICATIONS - TIPPED FOR 2004 (PXC)

moneyman - 03 Jan 2004 20:03

Tipped by the independent 2/01/2004

........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

Doshmaker - 16 Jan 2004 14:24 - 19 of 1874

Adie H - I do not have anything on the rumour, I personally believe the buying we have seen of late could be due to the potential of this share and also the sentiment of this sector is strong. A lot of people seem to rate this as a big winner for 2004.

Legins - 16 Jan 2004 14:58 - 20 of 1874

Sorry guys with the SVR post as in the wrong thread, but also seeing PXC well in profit

Happy1 - 16 Jan 2004 21:30 - 21 of 1874

If you want to see something interesting compare PXC to THUS and you will see that it is extremley undervalued.

Doshmaker - 16 Jan 2004 21:37 - 22 of 1874

Happy1 - Sorry but what do mean is undervalued in your opinion, Pipex or Thus.

Look set for a good day Monday, the tech dominated Nasdaq is up over 1%.

mikeran - 17 Jan 2004 12:29 - 23 of 1874

Potential for PXC, in the March 2004 edition of PC Pro the number of worldwide Broadband subscribers in 2002 ( figures from International telecommunications Union) grew by 72 % to nearly 63 million.
Korea 21% of population
Hong Kong 15%
Canada 11%
The uk does not even figure in the top 15, USA manages 6.9% of population and UK only 2.3% .

So Uk scratching the surface, lots of potential for PXC but I dont see them advertising that often? It is certainly the age of growth for Internet use in many areas-- lets hope PXC moves steadily forward, and the markets recognise its potential.

eckoh - 17 Jan 2004 20:04 - 24 of 1874

have you seen the latest Eckoh thread that mentions pipex?

Legins - 18 Jan 2004 10:30 - 25 of 1874

Yes, it was me who posted the message on Eckoh. What I posted is just pure speculation so there is no concrete proof in the train of thought I have been exploring but can see the significant potential for all three companies if they form a deal.

Andy - 18 Jan 2004 12:43 - 26 of 1874

I see what you mean about PXC / Thus chart!

draw?epic2=THUS&epic=PXC

Happy1 - 18 Jan 2004 18:22 - 27 of 1874

jules99 - 18 Jan 2004 23:49 - 28 of 1874

Evenin all..Just come back Holiday, a long time away...however pleased to see the way Telecoms future - Pipex Com is now starting to gain interest from many, in a years time we may look back and say, remember the days when Pipex was 9p...If only we knew...Good luck to all the holders in 2004 and more...The next set of results will shine no doubt, and the City could well start to take a keen interest.

Interesting graph btw...!

Whats the BB's realistic target for PIPEX Com - 3-6-12 months in 2004 ?

overgrowth - 20 Jan 2004 21:31 - 32 of 1874

I'll start the ball rolling...

3 months 12p

6 months 16p

12 months 20p

Any more bidders ?

amardev - 20 Jan 2004 23:34 - 33 of 1874

Can't argue with your targets overgrowth, but there will always be profit taking along the way.
Also, we all have different personal targets and investing styles.
eg. assuming two investors are 'in' at the same price but one has bought 100k shares whilst the other say 200k. The second investor may well be happy to exit at 12p, within 3 months, whilst the first may have set himself an unrealistic target of 16p, just to achieve the same level of profit.
In my experience, I have found that targets are constantly moving .. a
dramatic change in the price of one share in your portfolio has a 'knock on'
effect, which often forces you to make unplanned changes.
Your thoughts would be very welcome.
Every success to all PXC holders.

Overgrowth

I believe you can double your targets on 3 and 6 months and treble your 12 month forecast

Cheers

Doshmaker - 20 Jan 2004 23:43 - 35 of 1874

I bought in last week at 8.5p. I am initially looking short term (2 weeks maximum) and am hoping to get 10p within this timeframe. I believe this is realistic and we may even see these levels this week. The majority of tech stocks were down today, Nasdaq ended 7 points up so PXC should be in for a solid opening. Late buys may have some influence on the opening price as well. I read on many threads that posters are desperate for news, on one hand I understand this however shares do not need news to rise. The general market is looking promising, the tech sector especially is looking strong. As a result I feel the share price will continue to rise over the next few months with small but frequent retraces similar to the one we saw today. Definately feel PXC will have a very reasonable year.

overgrowth - 20 Jan 2004 23:57 - 36 of 1874

amardev,

Some good observations there particularly concerning the level of stake an investor has in a company.

I must admit that I don't normally set targets on a periodic basis, though generally I like to have an idea of what level I would consider selling at. Having said that, it is also true that companies change, and the world changes, so our portfolios and targets have to follow suit if we're going to continue to be successful. If a company looks strong on the chart, news is good and the price blasts past your previous sell target - do you take the money and run or adjust your target based on the new fortunes of the company ? I'll always go for the second option.

Whatever happens to PXC over the coming year, I believe we're all going to have our own degrees of success due to getting in before the stampeding crowd appears.

All the best

OG

GRAEME.ALEXANDER - 21 Jan 2004 00:03 - 37 of 1874

graeme.

jules99 - 21 Jan 2004 02:24 - 38 of 1874

Thanks for the comments, analysis and views, very respectable I must add, so thank you all!

My target for the former GX network, is considering it became PIPEX Com at 7p-ish mark I would go:

Many thing to be taken into consideration, but in a perfect scenario could expect:

Leading upto and Before next set of a/c's/Announcment 14p
However if the a/c's and strategy are particularly very good could see 20p
6 months - 20p+ depending on cash flow and new and highly positive announcemnts.

The overall view is PIPEX Com has a great future if it continues and keeps on track and future strategy.

Thanks to all..
