Regal Petroleum started trading on AIM recently. With the help of London broker
Evolution Beeson Gregory; Regal raised 10 million valuing the company at
34million.

Regal is raised the money to increase production in the so-called Chernihiv
field in Ukraine. Regal currently has a 75/25 joint venture with Chernihiv a
state owned exploration company and drilling enterprise. The Chernihiv field is
situated in the most prolific gas and condensate region of the Ukraine, the
Dneiper-Donets Basin. This Basin currently produces 90 per cent of Ukraine’s
gas and condensate. An independent report estimates that the Chernihiv field
has a total of proven and probable reserves of approximately 905bn cubic feet
of gas and 51.52 million barrels of condensate.

Over the years 18 exploratory wells have been drilled. Of these wells 12 have
been flow tested and demonstrated that commercial quantities of gas can be
produced.Regal says that a work over of the Mex- 3 well last July meant the
group commenced commercial production in August 2002. To increase production
rapidly Regal plans to drill more wells and work over old ones. It hopes to
have three wells in production by the end of 2003.

Blanche, i haven't seen the rumours, where have you seen them. I have siftet through the web and there's nothing in the past couple of days whereas it has gone up 10% in that period.

Jacob, Seen it on another bb about 3 weeks ago. Since then its gone from 1.98 to 2.48. So thought maybe theres something in it. I think it set to go much higher than that anyway. More news to come here. imho. Brought in at 60p so iam in for the long ride back to 5.00. Hope your holding 8-)

Just checked trades as ive been out most of the day. Some big baillers there after the bell. See what happens tommorow. Should give a bit more indication.

Ukraine-focused JKX Oil & Gas says no comment to suggestions it is looking at Regal Petroleum.

Regal, whose dry well at Kallirachi in Greece knocked its shares from 500p in 2005 to 34.5p last year, has been attracting attention because of its assets in Ukraine, where it is estimated to have the equivalent of 180 million barrels of oil. Analysts say these would make a good fit with JKX.

Regal shares have now recovered to 248.75p, up 10.75p today. The appeal is speculative. Robert Tyerman

Jacob, Brokers are saying their worth is anywhere between 3.50 & 5.00 currently.
Me personally, Iam looking at that bottom end as my target.
The fact that jkx say (no comment)!!!!!! pretty much tells the story.

What sort of time frame do you expect - mandating Tristone (a respectable firm) to run the sales process (Ukraine) presumably means that this process is ongoing but surely there is only a certain amount of time and DD required. Having said that, since the process started, the price of oil has probably helped the case as far as bidders are concerned.

Heard ther might be new buyout rumours again. Anybody know anything.

Shell rumour boosts Regal

Regal Petroleum closed higher yesterday on talk that Royal Dutch/Shell was looking to buy the exploration group's assets in Ukraine.

Earlier this year, Regal appointed Tristone Capital to explore a divestment of its Mekhediviska-Golotvschinska and Svyrydivske gas and condensate fields in the eastern European country.

The company reported a full-year loss of $109.2m (54.5m) due to legal charges for securing its Ukrainian licences. Regal Petroleum rose 4.6 per cent to 192p .

Summat's up - but I know not what.

FT hazards a guess that Shell may offer 3 per share for the Ukrainian assets.

hey blanche, you aren't in this one too are you? .... i do hope not! ...... con man Timmis has managed to mug the poor investors yet again .... i admit i called wrong 2 years ago(!) ago when i reckoned sp was over-valued at 60p, but i dare say that 100 or less could be on the cards once more if what looks like strong support at 140 is now breached

re-reading what i posted above, this is definitely one to watch with a view to shorting ...... if sp recovers then watch for resistance when 25 dma is met at 165 (and falling)

Cynic, Been selling this over the last few weeks. So dont hold at all. Walked away with 150% profit. Will buy again but not just yet, this has further to fall.
