I thought we had all decided that company buyback schemes did the private investor no favours at all? Sp falling off a cliff & presumably being shorted down to......? (240?)

Business Financial Newswire
"Domino's Pizza has confirmed that trading is continuing to trade strongly and the Board says it is confident of meeting the market's current expectations for the full year.

The Company has stated that it intends to repurchase up to 6m shares at a maximum price of 292p per share.

The tender offer closes on 11 December 2009 and represents approximately 3.7% of the issued share capital of the Company. "

very good company; strong management; consistently excellent results - haven't held for a while, but certainly worth checking out again

Harry - the original tender offer (mid November?) was for 317 a share - but it got pulled!

just goes to show that sometimes you just can't please the market ...... must just be some "selling on the news", so a chance to jump in if this company has appeal ..... it certainly does to me, even though i have not held for some time.

i may also take another look at RTN, which to my mind, rather falls into the same category as DOM, even if it is proper restaurants rather than take-away

Tried some Domino pizza's the other week....can't say that I was impressed...not as good as Pizzahut.....and a million lightyears from the real Italian homemade ones, but Domino's are all over the place.....the company is very successful !.

cynic - 16 Feb 2010 09:57 - 205 of 841

and that is the whole point ...
for myself, i'm glad i haven't eaten either .... pizza express was quite nasty enough

Clubman3509 - 16 Feb 2010 10:04 - 206 of 841

Domino's makes pizza like Mc Donald's makes burgers

cynic - 16 Feb 2010 11:23 - 207 of 841

too subtle for me that one

HARRYCAT - 16 Feb 2010 12:30 - 208 of 841

I'm guessing, cheap & nasty?
Wasn't impressed with my last trip to Dominos, so will stick to Papa Johns for take aways.

cynic - 16 Feb 2010 12:39 - 209 of 841

i'll stick to cooking at home!

Clubman3509 - 16 Feb 2010 12:42 - 210 of 841

Interim Management Statement.

The Company has had a strong start to 2010, despite the adverse weather conditions in the early part of the year. System sales for the period were up 17.5% to 118.9m (2009: 101.1m) and like-for-like sales for the period in 553 mature stores were up 10.5% (2009: 9.3% in 501 mature stores). The Company has opened eight new stores since the beginning of the year (2009: 10 new stores), bringing it to a total of 616 stores as at 28 March 2010 (2009: 563), and is well-positioned to achieve its target of 55 new store openings this year.

cynic - 30 Mar 2010 08:43 - 212 of 841

if UK is indeed coming out of recession, this is a really good stock to hold, for all the obvious reasons ..... ditto RTN

mitzy - 30 Mar 2010 11:44 - 213 of 841
