VOG is presently drilling Well 104 in its West Medvezhye field,and expected to reach depth in 4 weeks from spud date of 30th June, that makes 27th July(this week).
Results of testing will be sometime mid/late August, with a positive outcome
it could be HUGH.
With estimates of 134BILLION cubic metres of GAS and 201 Million barrels of Gas
Condensate,it will be a Company Maker. The field is in the area of the largest gas field in the WORLD.
Other assets include Kemerkol in Kazakhstan, with C1 reserves of 8.7MBO
and C2 reserves of7.8MBO. Another acquistion is Tamdykol with potental
reserves of 34MBO, it also has interest in 2 blocks in the North Sea.

It has excellent management team led by Kevin Foo, who hopes to turn it into
a Mid Cap Company(�500m+) in the not to distant future.

Amities / From what i hear it is not the price of the placing that has neccassitated this delay which smacks of amateur PR -but rather the markets uncertainity of the scale of the placing combined with both "get rich" and" scare mongering" tactics .Also arisen as a matter is whether to keep the placing earmarked for those institutions who forked out an additional 5.6 million in October 2004 immediately following the lPO in July which was oversubscibed and successfully raised the required 10 million for the West Medvezhye acreage with ease. West Medvezhye will be a company maker . But every great company has a moment in its momentum which makes right the conditions and prerequisites for that "company maker " to become a realization . . . ...With a drilling platform slotted for early January to remove from the very shallow ( 900 ft ) PROVEN - YES ! PROVEN C1 reserves at Kemarol of 8.7 million barrels ( C2" @ 25 million barrels and C3 estimated @ 60 million bbls) coupled with contracts signed with Smiths in DEC to provide support services for this project does not give the usual impression of a company in trouble . Once the placing is made known by RNS the company will be measured by its merits as opposed to being used as late as a tool of MMs . From a trading vantage point you cannot be greedy with VOG . lts candlestick chart gives little away and illustrates perfectly that the market has NO idea of where the s/p is going . Best prospect is CFDS with high volume looking for a small percentile movement ,,,,,, l very rarely invest, and even then only in junior oil and gas companies and various mining outfits; and VOG is one i am prepared to ignore the percentages and play the odds ......Everyone knows thier financial position best , and as IANWAS suggests, sometimes it is best to keep your powder dry and make your move as more information finds itself into the public domain and s/p rises in response to that . Good post Ian. I know you speak from experience. I predicted 50 p a couple of weeks ago, and I take no joy in it nearing this target. This is in my humble opinion a classic case of post-news drift. Buyers are left feeling frustrated because they missed it rise the first time and so are in at the top. They're upset it's going down and are trying to justify the mistake they made in buying by sticking their head in their sand. Me thinks the ladies protest too much! They may be right, we will see. Maybe it's better to look for shares that haven't trebled yet but could do so and spread some money between these.

you need to be very careful with this - following and very noticeable that at the first hint of selling , down goes the bid - seems they just don't want any of them

I like the story but am not ready to commit funds yet. I'm not convinced we're done with the fallout and would like to see a few days close over 80p, otherwise it's 70p.

A nice little write-up in Shares Mag today. Basically it summarises everything discussed here over the past couple of weeks and is included as one of S.M.'s "hot stocks". It also implies a value of 399p, which is inline with a few of the calculations here.

There's just as much chance of them finding much bigger reserves as their is in things going pear shaped, for a couple of k could easily be worth 5x that much in a year, what else currently has this potential?

Ellio, I agree about the potential and I do think the company is majorly undervalued at present, however I'm not investing any more money until the next news comes along, expected this month.

Rumour of the day in today's Times says that the deal has been done to raise 12million with 75p price. Says hopeful of well 106 being as high potential as 104. Says big players involved in the deal.

Makes sense, there was probably a lot of buying at 80p level in readiness for this.

Victoria Oil & Gas, which reconfirmed plans for an equity fundraising last week, rose 4p to 85p on word that Brewin Dolphin and Ambrian Partners are closing the books on a 12 million placing at the 75p level. The placing, said to have been backed by big institutions, was underpinned by hopes that Well 106 at Russias West Medvezhye gas project could prove just as good a prospect as Well 104.


Could be the last we see of sub 1.00 on monday?

Institutions always pay a mega discount, then raise the actual price, hence they feel they have negotiated well...lol..

Thanks for share mag insight, just a matter of time before lift off once again, private investors come to know of vog further.

It's not actually that much of a discount compared to the recent SP of around 80-85p. The maximum discount against that range, if the price will indeed be 75p, is 11.7%.

The one thing institutions like is low risk profit. I am encouraged that they would accept a deal so close to the share price and it shows they have confidence in the prospects of a good run over the coming few months. They will be aware that concerns over the fundraising have depressed the price recently so removal of those concerns should trigger a short term upturn.

Will be very interesting to see where we are in 12 months time. Any guesses?
