I agree with Haystack. M&S is now just a store for an older generation who won't shop anywhere else.

My generation and the generation below me have been given alternatives though which simply weren't there 30 or 40 years ago and we prefer the alternatives. Consequently as the older generation of M&S customers dies, so M&S will die with them.

Sometimes hilary the older people outlive their children. Its a lifestyle thing. What goes around etc.....

Dil - 21 Nov 2008 15:11 - 201 of 974

Bit old for ASOS aint you choccy ?

:-)

chocolat - 21 Nov 2008 15:12 - 202 of 974

Abserlootly, Hil.
The only reason I might pop, although I haven't even done that since the summer, is because it's next to Tescos.

cynic - 21 Nov 2008 15:20 - 203 of 974

ah it's that very lickable choccy!
that cheered my afternoon along with WPP and MKS falling

hilary - 21 Nov 2008 15:20 - 204 of 974

Well you're lucky to have one next to a Tesco to be able to pop into, Chocopops. They haven't exactly capitalised on out of town retail park store locations, have they?

All of my local branches are in town centres.

Ha, gorgeous, according to Mr C I am ;)

This is what I'm mainly wearing today

Well, the bit above the knees from the waist down :)

Haystack - 21 Nov 2008 15:29 - 207 of 974

Tabasco
I was doing consultancy at Baker Street and still have contacts there. The mid to senior managers are quite dispirited that very little has changed in the culture since Rose took over. It may be different in the stores, but they have very little confidence at head office.

Haystack - 21 Nov 2008 15:30 - 208 of 974

Choc
The skirts is a bit too long for me. I remember the micro skirts just wide than a belt!!

cynic - 21 Nov 2008 15:31 - 209 of 974

when you're as old as choccy, micro minis are unbecoming!

tabasco - 21 Nov 2008 15:33 - 210 of 974

Hilary M&S is now just a store for an older generation

Take That, number one male group and faces of Marks & Spencers Autograph menswear range have designed an exclusive range of limited edition ties for M&S which are on sale now perfectly timed for Christmas gifts.
I dont get that one Hilary?

maddoctor - 21 Nov 2008 15:34 - 211 of 974

Take That are pensioners , arn,t they?

tabasco - 21 Nov 2008 15:35 - 212 of 974

Haystackthey have been out of Baker Street for years!

chocolat - 21 Nov 2008 15:38 - 213 of 974

Oops, was interrupted by the phone whilst I was finding the piccie ;)
Just noticed I said I might pop - but that's probably true.

So glad to be of use, Mr C!

And right again, Hil - I wouldn't have bothered with them at all if they hadn't opened the one a couple of miles away - some years ago now. Along with Tescos and another retailer, they had to bribe the council for planning permission, by paying towards the new roads that were built.

hilary - 21 Nov 2008 15:45 - 214 of 974

QED, Chilli.

Haystack - 21 Nov 2008 15:49 - 215 of 974

tabasco
Yes, I know they moved about 4 years ago, but I still have contacts at senior level still and the culture has not changed much. I spoke with someone there only last week.

chocolat - 21 Nov 2008 15:52 - 216 of 974

Haystack - size 8 wouldn't fit you anyway ;)

Haystack - 21 Nov 2008 15:55 - 217 of 974

It would have done once when I had a 28" waist! Those were the days.

Haystack - 21 Nov 2008 15:59 - 218 of 974

My estimate is still 187p for MKS as a low, although I suspect it may hit 169p.
