nice jump (SGM)

hangon - 19 Jul 2007 16:50

nearly doubled in 2-months - but Why?
As I see it the underlying investments haven't changed, true the finances are altered but the money they have gained was at the expense of stock so I don't understand, other than some logic that says if some folk are prepared to pay double the current price - then the current price needs to be raised.

Er, sorry I don't think so. For institutions it is difficult to trade at Market Price since they want large numbers (or not at all) - so it is likely they pay the extra to buy-in when they think there is something good abouut to happen - - - but Sigmas tranck record is not exceptional - and it moves slowly, at the same speed as their better investments (er, less a bit for the bad ones).

Maybe wait for this froth to subside. Currently c.58 pence after a recent 64p peak

Update in Shares, today:
currently 34p, maybe looking at below 20p this year?

(This is my interpretation):#
- Sigma raises property investments for its clients, mostly pension-funds so there is a likleyhood there will be fewer of these as property loses its appeal. ( Credit crunch woes deepen in 2008?)

Sigma also has some Equity stakes in Tech businesses, I understand; but these may be funds they have set-up rather than their own investments, if that makes any sense . . . no?

hangon - 11 Feb 2008 12:08 - 3 of 8

Sigma was mentioned in the Press last week - hence the jump today - MM's making hay - - -
This Co. has a long-term view on their investments and "right now" there are unlikley to be any IPO's - the Market isn't up for it. Any "quoted" investments will be drifting down - so will their NAV.
So I cannot see why their current (pre-rise) value isn't "As good as it gets - at lest until the Market wakes up, maybe 2009+
I suspect we shall see lower prices again, once the MM's move their stocks. DYOR
EDIT(29Oct10)- 9p mid, Oh deary; still the yield shows as 3%

Sigma’s announcement of the first tenants moving into the first new homes completed and rented under Private Rented Sector is very positive news which further supports this expanding Group’s ability to efficiently deliver an excellent product that is clearly in high demand, as reflected in the strong ongoing rental demand through pre-lets and reservations on homes yet to be completed.

With supportive partners and a sizeable development pipeline building we anticipate a year of significant progress. Read more at http://www.investorschampion.com or http://tinyurl.com/nd4z383
