Recent news...
Rotork beat expectations with a 34 percent rise in 2008 profit and said it was confident for 2009 thanks to a strong order book and the prospect of infrastructure spending, sending its shares soaring. The company, which makes valve control systems for the oil, gas and water industries, said it ended the year with a record order book of 162 million pounds ($228.6 million), an increase of 66 percent since the start of 2008. Chief Executive Peter France told Reuters he sees lots of positive signs for Rotork in 2009 and beyond, including more infrastructure spending, the need for new and upgraded power stations and government stimulus packages. "A lot of the oil majors are talking about having 2009 capex plans at least the same as 2008, which would be very positive for us," he added. Later today, Britain is set to unveil a financial support package of up to 2 billion pounds to kickstart projects that have been put on hold because of the credit crisis. Shares in Rotork jumped 12 percent to 768 pence at 0922 GMT, making the company the top FTSE 250 riser. Numis upgraded its recommendation for Rotork to 'Buy' from 'Add' following the results and increased its forecasts for 2009 and 2010 by 5 percent. "We expect it to maintain good growth in the current year and believe its major end markets will prove more resilient than most in the current climate," Numis analysts wrote in a note. France also expects Rotork, which operates in 30 countries and has 14 manufacturing plants across the world, to continue to benefit from the weak pound and take market share. "Most of our competitors are euro or dollar-based, so we are in a very competitive position against those." Jeffries analyst John Dean said Rotork had been winning market share in the United States and Europe even at unfavourable foreign exchange movements. "The weakening pound will only have strengthened this position further," he said. Rotork posted full-year adjusted pretax profit of 76.9 million pounds boosted by the weak pound and strong order growth, on sales up 36 percent at 320 million pounds. Analysts were expecting adjusted pretax profit of 74 million pounds, up from 57.3 million in 2007, according to a consensus of 14 analysts provided by the company. The current consensus forecast for 2009 is for adjusted preatx profit of 79.5 million pounds on sales of 329.1 million, according to data provided by the company.

good call digit, but it is of some concern that this share shows violent movement on minuscule volume, implying no liquidity at all .... shall have a look at their web site to see what that reveals as not even sure what these guys do

found out that bit quickly enough ...... not sure i care for engineering stocks much, though if one is trading a trend, it is somewhat academic ..... shall have a look for liquidity and average trading volumes etc
TLW looking quite tasty again .... very bravely topped up a couple of slices while sp tumbled, but all now looking pretty good

Cyners, TLW should really bomb if Opec cut production targets on Sunday.
By the way ROR supply valves to the oil Industry.

Met a guy the other day who has recently joined this company as a welder in their trailer division in Suffolk. Not one I have been watching, but seems to have picked up recently. Div yield is fair at 2.3% but most brokers seem to be neutral at the moment on this stock.
