Mining round-up, coal hopes in Australia boost Altona Energy
StockMarketWire.com
Altona Energy have jumped nearly 22% to 3.5p after announcing it is to start its drilling programme at its flagship Arckaringa project in South Australia.

The key objectives of the programme are to extract bulk samples of coal to test and extend the coal quality profile. to complete in-fill coal and coal geotechnical boreholes to facilitate open cut mine design (especially in an area covering the potential initial box cut) andto complete hydro-geological test wells to enable the refinement of the existing hydro-geological model and underpin a groundwater management plan.

Chris Lambert, Executive Chairman of Altona Energy commented: "This is a significant moment for the Arckaringa project. All regulatory approvals are now in place to allow the commencement of the drilling programme.

"We have also achieved some important regulatory and community relations milestones as we have worked through the approval process, which will stand our future field activities in very good stead .

"Large scale long-term projects like Arckaringa certainly have their challenges for everyone involved, but it is clear that we have made some very sound progress in the last few months, and we look forward to updating the market with more news on the drilling programme as it becomes available."

“As from today, AIM listed shares are allowed in ISAs. We have searched AIM listed companies and identified the two stocks which, we believe, have the most potential to increase their market capitalisation 15-20 fold within three years.

Both stocks have huge resources, over 6 billion tons of coal and nearly 1 billion tons of iron ore, but tiny market capitalisations £7m and £36m.

The first stock is priced at 1.2p and has analyst price targets of between 16p and 25p (a potential rise of between 1233% and 1983%)

The second stock is priced at 12.5p and has analyst price targets up to 221p (a potential rise of up to 1668%)

Both stocks have cash in the bank and impressive strategic partners – the first stock has CNOOC as a partner (one of China’s largest oil companies) and strong support from the Australian Government; the second stock has IFC (International Finance Corporation) as a 15% shareholder, strong support from the Government of Mozambique, and is likely to announce a major JV deal with a global integrated steel company (e.g. Jindal, Posco and Nippon).

Strong newsflow is expected from both companies over the coming months which will help trigger and sustain substantial share price re-ratings.

The companies are Altona Energy (ANR) and Baobab Resources (BAO)
