St Modwen Properties and Rover (SMP)

Kivver - 08 Apr 2005 10:40

Did people know that SMP had bought the land in longbridge that Rover is built on and rent it back to them. I suppose this could be bad in the short term because they will not get their rent but could be good for investors in the medium to long term. Can anybody shed more light on the situation.

Kivver - 08 Apr 2005 13:56 - 2 of 13

bought it for 78 million apparently. i live not far from there if houses were ever or able to be built there it would be worth 3 or 4 times that.

Lets hasten the end, then.

What are they going to do with the site??

Kivver ... visited Rover last week and agree with you .... that land is worth a damn sight more than they paid for it if they can flatten the plant and sell it off for private housing.

Rover situation should be sorted soon ... they applied for planning permission yet ?

Kivver - 27 Jun 2005 10:08 - 11 of 13

Little news on developments at the moment but smp have been moving up nicely over the last year or so. Wish i had got in much earlier. I just wonder if it might get pulled down with the whole building sector. SMP has a high PE compared to most other similar stocks.

FRASZ - 26 Oct 2005 16:56 - 12 of 13

SMP has plans to develop part of the 400 acre site at Longbridge into a business park and perhaps as many as 4000 jobs could be created. Rover's new Chineese owner, Nanjing, will be increasing vehicle production. Is this a time to buy SMP shares?
