Not a thread to be had on hiscox strange narrow band of trading but now at the right end sp wise,looking for about 1.50ish as a entry point,

no one else seems to want to know sa I'll ask, Dave. What makes this one a gem. Not over happy about investing in retail at the moment so why is this one a good choice?

Well just my view of course,as one of the best underwriters in this sector {with decent profit} recently upped its stake in lloyds & most of the hiscox wealth in bonds around 70% i think,,in a time were the market is unsure to say the least not a bad thing when they dont have to much exposure to equities around 10% and the rest in cash,,there may be some swing on them numbers but not to much.
2003,net premiums 661
pre tax profit 83.4
investmemt income 31.2
dividend 4.2 ..
2004,net premiums 682
pre tax profit 77.0
investment income 33.7
dividend 5.0
Another person another view and who said insurane is dull,,,,,,,i did..

nasty hit today....reckon uk storms of last week are going to hit the underwriter...estimates for the industry are 3 billion in claims....largest since 1987..
