Media Corp (Gaming Corpoartion GMC)Attracting Some Big Names. (MDC)

goldfinger - 05 Dec 2003 00:33

Up nearlly 15% today and I beleive there could be more to come.

Evil Knievil has tipped it on EvilCast and has bought in 100,000 worth of stock a notifiable interest. He rates the management very highly and says they are attracting all the big bookmakers to the online casino site including punters the likes of William Hill, Chandler, and Ladbrokes. The company are now running at a profit every month and should break into a yearly profit from the years previous loss very soon. The company also ownes in partnership with a Swiss firm Boss another casino site and by all accounts that is doing well.

Im looking at this one as a momentum play pretty high risk as there are competitors out there but I feel the management will give it the edge.

Please DYOR, and remember you are responsible for your own buying and selling actions.

cheers GF.

Many thanks for that folks. Presummably then their inclusion in the sell column is a little misleading and there are in fact far more buys than sells!!

I had to phone Hoodless to get mine.

Looks like after the initial dip they are beginning to pick up.

Even Ian is monitoring this thread, have you bought some too??

jimmy b - 28 Feb 2005 09:51 - 210 of 1117

Whats happened to the buy and sell page, its wiped itself clean and started again...

AdieH - 28 Feb 2005 10:00 - 211 of 1117

So much trading, lol, if the figures are right only 40million shares are in private hands, so far 15million have been traded today... 40% of shares, maybe they started again, lol... 4p up today me thinks...

brain2brain - 28 Feb 2005 10:11 - 212 of 1117

So what does it mean if 40% of the shares are being traded? If the price of a share is plummeting it presumably means people want out. If the price is rising it means people want in. So in this case do we interpret it as there is uncertainty in the price or are people just profit taking after 2 good days?

AdieH - 28 Feb 2005 10:42 - 213 of 1117

If there is demand then the price will rise, MM's might be short, so they increase the price hoping to induce some selling... I'm fairly new to this... only my opinion... You have to look at the whole picture, i.e. good RNS to support recent rise, 60p target given by Simon Caldwell, the figures seem to justify this...This is the hot area at present, online gambling, take a look at Neteller recent price movement...

brain2brain - 28 Feb 2005 11:03 - 214 of 1117

Managed to get into Neteller at 390 and 500, so am very pleased with these but am a bit concerned I may have arrived too late for this one (22p) but shall keep a close eye on it.

AdieH - 28 Feb 2005 11:21 - 215 of 1117

60p target of simon caldwell, don't agree with his shorting tactics but he has made alot of money dealing in shares, as you say keep an eye on it, seems to be holding around 2.75p up, likes to shot up in morning, steady over lunch then moves again towards end of day, could see 4p + by the end of play...

brain2brain - 28 Feb 2005 11:22 - 216 of 1117

Just had some thoughts over coffee. If there are about 40 million shares owned privately and over 25 million have already been traded so far this morning this means that on average the shares will have been bought for about 22p. Assumming that these folks want a reasonable return there will come a time later today or tomorrow when shares are in short supply as to release these shares back into the market the price will have to risen by say 10-15% ...supply and demand. This assummes that folks who have bought the shares don't panic and sell at a loss.

If my logic is correct the price should rise later today or tomorrow. Have I got this right or am I missing something.

Rambling of a beginner

Cheers

Will probably rise again this afternoon, but watch the hitwise rankings which are out tomorrow!

brain2brain - 28 Feb 2005 11:32 - 218 of 1117

Sorry Paulo, ignorance is bliss. What is the hitwise ranking?

mickeyskint - 28 Feb 2005 11:37 - 219 of 1117

From the other place. Some of you investors may this this guy. He makes a lot of sence to me.

Relax investors all and sundry....

Press speculation is a very good thing. Those of you currently invested in the stock should gain some comfort from the the fact that this massively overlooked stock is now gaining recognition.

To those of you who have a negative opinion about this stock, I say welcome...please keep on selling... for without you, there would be no market for buyers! With huge respect to those whose opinions do not echo my own, I welcome your negativity. I just think you are wrong. Thats all.

To those who are wavering and would like more comfort before they invest, I would point your direction to the fact that GMC, alongside its peers, ARE MAKING PROFITS. It is not a dotcom boom based on speculation. IT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING NOW. All that we believers are waiting for is the strength of the profits flow. And we believers think it will be phenomenal. And we may well be correct!!!

What I do know is...you are a idiot to go short of this stock. The whole sector is buzzing. The big funds HAVE to get involved if PartyPoker lists at anything like the prices muted. GMC WILL go higher because all the tracker funds will be forced to buy it(Party Poker, I mean), if it is valued at FTSE 100 LEVELS.

My argument is that they (the tracker funds) have not got enough exposure to this sector. It is a new sector and fund managers are like sheep. Their analysts will be searching around for value to expose their funds to this sector. And you know what... there ain't that many companies listed where it is possible to get exposure to the sector. GMC is the UK's biggest gaming portal. The UK is Europe's biggest gaming market. Correct me if I am wrong (and I'm sure you will!) but I understand that the UK gambling market is almost as big as all EU Europe together! Its MOMENTUM trading...

I am a professional investor. Without seeming to gloat, I get it before you. The reason for writing on this board is to give all of you sometihng for nothing....Don't ask me why..I honestly would just like you all to benefit from my judgement.

I do not need your support or encouragement but, curiously, many have suggested I post on a private BB just for those who genuinely are interested in my opinions. To my fans, I ask "Would you be prepared to pay for such a service?" To my sceptics, I say "Would you pay for information which you are convinced was WRONG?"

I think I get it right 90%. As my first boss said," I only take 2 brokers seriously...those who get it right 90% of the time...and those who get it wrong 90% of the time. At least they are consistant."

I rest my case. Good night all and good luck.

Oh and a PS: Do check out www.spreadex.com I feel I would being you a diservice if I did not point out that they piss on IG and Cantors. Say Trousered recomended you... Happy Investing...!

Good questions being asked, nice posts, this is very pleasent, hitwise is what exactly? Is it the number of people checking out the websites? Will this have an effect on the SP?

Paulo2 - 28 Feb 2005 11:49 - 221 of 1117

Yes, the number of hits taken and the cash for each one! If GMC isn't No 1 tomorrow then expect a quick sell off but be ready to buy back in ASAP as this still has a long way to go. Results are due in April.

EWRobson - 28 Feb 2005 13:10 - 222 of 1117

Hitwise rankings come out weekly and GMC announced that they wrere number 1 on 10th Feb. Its a matter of trends really, so one week doesn't make a summer, nor does 2nd place. Not hear, Paulo, of hitwise measuring cash - can't see they would have access to that info.

Brain: got it about right I think. If there are only 40M shares with private (small) investor, i.e. not a large enough holding to declare, the only way to hit the volumes that GMC are at present (40M on Friday alone) is for the shares to circulate. That means that the MMs have to move the price up sharply on demand to flush out sellers. Where does it stop? Technical Analysis will say go on buying. This is effectively what happened in the dotcom boom until someone pulled the plug out and the resulting mayhem was madness to behold. What is different now? (i) GMC is profitable; (ii) gambling market is growing rapidly and teh internet share is also growing; (iii) already talk of a takeover and GMC, because of its technical leadership in portals, would clearly be a most tasty mouthful for someone like Sportingbet; (iv) nobody likes Simon Cawkwell except evil knieval but the pundits do admire him - and he says 60p. Can't see what is going to stop it getting most of the way there.

Congratulations to the buyer of 1 share (20p) at 13.13. Perhaps that will stop the panic selling and start a more sensible rising trend.

ateeq180 - 28 Feb 2005 13:22 - 224 of 1117

all 20.10 trades are showing as sells, but they are actually buys.strange.

mickeyskint - 28 Feb 2005 13:24 - 225 of 1117

Oh don't you just love the MM's. Roll on electronic trading.

MS

EWRobson - 28 Feb 2005 13:26 - 226 of 1117

Nice ONE, brain! Clever stuff from the MMs. Raising the price was not flushing out the sellers. So, what do they do? They reduce the price when buys are outweighing the sells - result is they flush out the sellers! lol! They replenish their stock. They will then move the price back up to sell at higher prices. You have to hand it to them! - at least, some impatient holders, are handing their s to them! lol!
