Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

As the crow flies...any idea how far away the 2 wells are ?....Ernest-Sea Lion...

chav - 22 Jul 2010 11:02 - 2091 of 6294

Do crows normally fly in straight lines or zigzag with the wind and air currents?

avsec - 22 Jul 2010 11:09 - 2092 of 6294

less than a couple of hours for a Wandering Albatross!

cynic - 22 Jul 2010 11:09 - 2093 of 6294

they squawk a lot!

Proselenes - 22 Jul 2010 12:08 - 2094 of 6294

If a crow flew in a straight line it might be around 120km I would guess from Ernest to Sea Lion.

chav - 22 Jul 2010 12:17 - 2095 of 6294

Approx 60 miles for us Brits.

HARRYCAT - 22 Jul 2010 12:21 - 2096 of 6294

Approx 75 miles. (120 x 0.6214)

chav - 22 Jul 2010 12:25 - 2097 of 6294

120k's is 75 miles but my guess is approx 60 miles looking at the degrees/minutes/secs of the two positions.

chav - 22 Jul 2010 12:28 - 2098 of 6294

Looking at a better chart, I think I will go with Pro's 75 miles as well!

HARRYCAT - 22 Jul 2010 12:29 - 2099 of 6294

So you are talking nautical miles & not distance over ground? ;o)

cynic - 22 Jul 2010 12:36 - 2100 of 6294

and don't forget that waves go up and down too, so you have to take that into account!

chav - 22 Jul 2010 12:47 - 2101 of 6294

Nautical miles Harry, of course, that the crow will paddle...apparently the crow broke it's wing playing tag last week.

avsec - 22 Jul 2010 13:46 - 2102 of 6294

Thank God you lot weren't there in '82! ROFL

aldwickk - 22 Jul 2010 13:50 - 2103 of 6294

Cynic

The crow will be flying not swimming , no need to bother about the waves.

HARRYCAT - 22 Jul 2010 13:55 - 2104 of 6294

As water goes down the plughole in the opposite direction in the Southern Hemisphere, perhaps the crows don't follow the same flight pattern as here? I think we should form a research committee & ask for government funding.

cynic - 22 Jul 2010 14:02 - 2105 of 6294

they fly anti-clockwise too!

chav - 22 Jul 2010 14:02 - 2106 of 6294

Given the standard of some peoples research on RKH on this thread, I think funding would be hard to come by...except Pro and Marky of course!

cynic - 22 Jul 2010 14:03 - 2107 of 6294

i research nothing and have always admitted as much, but sure as hell marky does

chav - 22 Jul 2010 14:20 - 2108 of 6294

Spud RNS tomorrow for Ernest...my little bit of research!

markymar - 22 Jul 2010 14:27 - 2109 of 6294

I will go for Monday RNS......

L2 there is nothing there on apart from fresh air all the way up to 3.38 so i think this baby is going to motor today.
