Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

Can you lot stop talking about how far the crow flies, and anything to do with birds. The last time one flew over me (a seagull) it Cr**ed all over my fish and chips, so not a good omen.

HARRYCAT - 22 Jul 2010 19:14 - 2117 of 6294

It's a very good omen if a bird dumps on you. Meant to be very good luck in western culture. Not good for your supper as bird poo is very alkaline!
"When Bird Droppings Land On Your Head
Many people believe this to be a major sign of wealth coming from heaven. Hence, although, it is really yucky and a major inconvenience, when something like this happens to you, take comfort in the fact that this is described as good luck being just around the corner! In fact, most things associated with birds tend to spell good fortune, such as when birds fly to your home and start making nests in and around your house. While bats bring abundance, birds bring good news and opportunities. Birds are also said to be powerful protectors and guardians. Even crows are said to be messengers of the Gods. "

Heard the above before re Birds. Its about as true as its lucky to run over a black cat, or something like that.

The 'Bird' thing, might though as you say be a luck omen. It was not till I had posted, that I remembered 'Rockhopper' is a penguin.

On a serious note.....A lot can happen in world events in the time period between now and the finish of the next well drilling by Rockhopper.
The strange thing is that Oil is one of those things that can increase in value per barrel, due to both good news and bad.
In good times, people/countries tend to be better of financially and therefore use more oil/fuel and the price increases due to demand. Word strife on the other hand often means oil shortages, which also result in price increases.
We all know that prices can and often do fluctuate downward, but these lower prices tend to be temporary with the usual general trend upward.
So over the last say 10 years the oil price has always followed the trend of 1 step down followed by 2 steps up.
Oil is to modern life almost as valuable as water. OK we know we can't live without water, but imagine a world without oil, it would be back to the stone age.
In the past access to water was one of the main causes of wars. Oil as we know is now one of the main reasons countries go to war.
I still see posts stating that due to the current price per barrel, oil companies are not the investment they were.
I just can not believe how short sighted these people are.
The current sp is good solid value, given that only 1 well is proven.
Anything else is a bonus.

Proselenes - 23 Jul 2010 09:50 - 2130 of 6294

TD should be 20 to 25 days IMO.

30 days will be with logging complete.

Therefore somewhere from 12th August onwards there could be "rumours".
