Any further thoughts here soult?
Fairly heavy selling, but the sp seems stable at 94p, but still the 100p seems a resistance level. May indicate that this is now a fair valuation of the company???
Am still holding but common sense would tell me to take profit soon, particularly if the FTSE starts to slide.

cynic - 31 Oct 2006 12:27 - 223 of 301

FTSE is technically (chart) still strongly up-bound

HARRYCAT - 31 Oct 2006 12:35 - 224 of 301

To what level?

soul traders - 31 Oct 2006 13:15 - 225 of 301

Harry, it's probably a good idea to listen to your common sense, although I think there may still be some headroom for VLK, especially if it gets promoted to the All-Share.

I, however, took a decision to cut and run on Friday, so I sold all my VLK at an 18% profit and spent the proceeds on SOLA at 196.55p. Which, as you can tell, I am so far not regretting in the slightest.

I would have preferred to sell something else and keep VLK, but have had to restructure a fair bit of my portfolio in the last couple of weeks and it just wasn't possible to do everything at once.

Good luck to those still holding.

soul traders - 31 Oct 2006 13:21 - 226 of 301

PS - I'm not sure if it's yet fair to refer to 100p as a resistance level. VLK enjoyed a very strong run in the previous month and has only had one peak at 99p so far. The small drop back after a nice run up fits with the pattern of trading for the year to date.

Don't take my word for it, as I'm not a chartist, but I'd still be inclined to think there may be more to come unless a stronger downtrend begins to set in.

IMO, DYOR, etc.

HARRYCAT - 31 Oct 2006 13:24 - 227 of 301

Can't believe you jumped ship!!!
Am now hyperventilating into a brown paper bag & considering my options.

soul traders - 31 Oct 2006 13:31 - 228 of 301

Harry, Don't panic - (I'm sure you're only kidding anyway!) - as I said, I would rather have sold something else but was a bit stuck for liquid assets and simply made the best call I could under the circumstances. VLK could well be over a quid by mid-Nov.

And please don't take too much notice of what I say or do, as I have made just as many hideous investment mistakes as everyone else (but I don't admit to all of them on here :o) !!)

Here's a consolation prize: keep an eye on SUB. (Shares gave it a mention last week).

HARRYCAT - 31 Oct 2006 13:39 - 229 of 301

Relax, soult! I am adult enough to be responsible for my own decisions :o)
I also have SOLA. Two lots (1x 2.45 1 x 1.94), so looks like we are pretty much on the same wavelenght!
Am watching SUB, but think there is more downside before the up.
Will hang on to VLK for a day or two & watch.

soul traders - 31 Oct 2006 13:43 - 230 of 301

LOL - good to hear that, Harry!

Re Sola, I guess we are on a similar wavelength, although surely you mean you paid 145p for your first chunk (I did!). as far as I am aware the SP only got as far as 237 ????

You're right re SUB - am also playing a waiting game and need to take some time to read and research properly in addition to the quick scan I gave it a couple of months back, but I thought that Shares' mention was pretty compelling.

This should help a little.

Harry, I think you can put away that paper bag now . . .

VLK Bid: 99p Offer: 100p Change: 5

PapalPower - 01 Nov 2006 12:03 - 233 of 301

Need to see the bid price through 100p.......fingers crossed :)

HARRYCAT - 01 Nov 2006 12:36 - 234 of 301

Cheers, soult! Was starting to feel a bit dizzy. Must have ben the old brussel sprout smell. Hope you think VLK worth re-investment soon.
Re SUB: thanks for the tip, but think the concensus of opinion is 'Stay out' especially after todays news release.

soul traders - 01 Nov 2006 13:28 - 235 of 301

Harry, I admit I couldn't have foreseen today's RNS on SUB, but "stay out for good" would be a little too strong for my liking. I've posted my reasons, more or less, in #81 on the SUB thread.

Can't see myself getting back into VLK at the mo due to stretched finances and my love affair with SUB and also a little gold-miner called Ariana (AAU). Might have a swing at TAN sometime when I want dependable growth, though.

HARRYCAT - 15 Nov 2006 09:22 - 238 of 301

Interesting that the pension funds of BT & Royal Mail have invested here recently.

soul traders - 15 Nov 2006 12:10 - 239 of 301

Harry, when I last checked, BT was actually reducing its VLK holding as part of a wide-ranging portfolio restructuring in which it was selling a great many equities.

HARRYCAT - 15 Nov 2006 12:25 - 240 of 301

Gee, soult, you are just regretting selling!!! But you are right. This is a reduction, so please disregard my earlier post.
13th Nov Trustees for BT pension fund issued Notification of Major Interest in shares, now hold 5.4+ million shares = 3.96%. Down from 4.85%.
