2 5 million buys at 16.01 shows that someone likes a bargain.

No doubt that was someone whoi did not get enough at 17p.

Oil price dropped $3 per barrel yesterday which is why most oil stocks were down.

No it's not me, I just had a few more thousand yesterday.

'Hold on to Hardman says analyst
Steve Rotherham
Thursday, December 02, 2004

THE market has overreacted to disappointing results for Hardman at the Merou-1 and Capitaine-1 offshore Mauritanian wells, according to a report by financial consultancy Smith Barney, a division of Citigroup Global Markets Inc.

Hardman closed yesterday at $1.61, down 18 cents or 10.1% from the previous day's close of $1.79.

"Our valuation of Hardman is unchanged at A$2.48 a share," the report stated.

"We believe the known reserves plus the potential for upgrades at Tiof and Chinguetti are worth around A$1.82 a share. The potential for further additions (Tevet) and the potential value of gas at Banda bring our value up to the A$2.48/share level. Our recommendation is maintained at Hold/Speculative Risk (2S)."

Smith Barney said there were also two other exploration wells Sotto-1, a 150-250 million bbl prospect, and Bogue-1, a 300 million bbl prospect that could still be drilled. It was also possible that the joint venture would now concentrate on generating cashflow from Chinguetti and Tiof rather than exploration.

But Hardman was still considered to be a speculative investment as its assets were located mainly in one country, Mauritania, and these were the first oil and gas fields to be located in that country.

Another reason to hold on to Hardman shares could be the company's leases in offshore Guyane (formerly French Guiana).

Smith Barney did not discuss this region, but Hardman acting chief executive Scott Spencer told the company's annual general meeting that Hardman was excited about its deep-water leases off the Guyane coast. Hardman holds a 97.5 per cent interest in more than 65,000 square kilometres.

Spencer said Hardman had completed a large 2D seismic survey outlining a giant structure that could hold 2.5 billion barrels of recoverable oil.

The company was talking to potential farm-in partners but it intended to hold on to a bigger stake than it did when Woodside farmed into Chinguetti, Spencer said.'

agreed. the bubble isn't bursting but just deflating a bit...and not before time. of course i want these stocks higher but with the increased volatity in oil i am happier seeing it go into a bit of a consolidation phase.

seawallwalker - 02 Dec 2004 10:49 - 2321 of 7811

Hardmans report above, the Gyanne deal invlves Sterling at a free carry I believe.

Just topped up at 15.84p but shows as sell. Suggest some of the sells going through are actually buys.

hilary - 02 Dec 2004 12:52 - 2325 of 7811

Here is more commentry from iii.

If the cap fits, wear it!

Starts

opmoc - do you hold?

I take it you don't having read your comments on ADVFN and here!

So you don't like this stock!

Okay, I can live with that.

In time the holders will either be rewarded or they will loose their cash. That is the straight option. As has been pointed out on ADVFN, Oil exploration stocks are high risk. All investors know this, and should be aware that there is no such thing as free money!

The results from Mauritannia have been outstanding so far, bar 3 holes this time and one last time.

Sentiment may not be it should be good at the moment for some people, but hey, seen it all before.

All shareholders do their own thing, buy, sell or hold based on their own judgement of the facts known.

Here is an inponderable.

Will all holes have oil or gas?

Of course not!

Exporation for oil is not that simple. These shares are a decent long term hold in my opinion with a decent upside, also in the long term.

The Merou hole may not be the failre everyone thinks it is, only time will tell, and another hole there. Tiof 3 is not a failure, there is a large amount of oil, but for technical and mechanical reasons they were not able to finish testing.

Remember that time is money, especially with the equipment on site, the rigs are there for a contracted time only and they have a busy programme.

Out of the next few holes to complete the Mauritannian venture this time, there are 10 proposed production wells. This means revenues once the product comes to the surface, which means profit eventually, which means an increase in the s/p, which means there is an option other than committing hara kiri!

HOLD!

seawallwalker - 02 Dec 2004 14:11 - 2332 of 7811
