Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

HOIL will do for starters .... EO. as a gamble, but at least it operates in safe waters .... HAWK - is clearly being groomed to be taken out, though how far away that is, no one knows, and they only produce a bucketful a day at the moment

cynic if you press on the link it will take you to RKH web site where there is a cube with oil in which you can play with which might stimulate your brain a little.
http://www.rockhopperexploration.co.uk/exploration/falklands_oil_cube.php
The cube contains oil recovered from the Shell well 14/10-1 during the 1998 campaign, which is now RKH acerage so oil has been recoved.

wowee! .... and how many years do you reckon it will take before this "oil eldorado" proves its reserves (and its quality) and can actually be exploited and the stuff brought on stream? ..... even taking the first bits as gospel, i would hazard a guess at 7/10 years

and how much of it? ..... and if it was so damn wonderful, don't you find it amazing that no one has yet got near to even thinking about drilling?.... if you are such a smart-arse, what level do reckon crude needs to be to make it worthwhile extracting, and even once found in commercial quantities, how long until it it will actually be flowing?

and how much of it?
Prospective reserve update :
Increase estimates from 1.2 billion barrels recoverable
on an unrisked basis to 1.8 billion barrels recoverable in
licences PL032 and PL033
Overall total reserve potential increased to
4.3 billion barrels
recoverable
and if it was so damn wonderful, don't you find it amazing that no one has yet got near to even thinking about drilling?....
"Rig availability, financing and all relevant
consents, we are ready to drill."EIA has been submited and waiting for thumbs up and a Rig to become available.
if you are such a smart-arse, what level do reckon crude needs to be to make it worthwhile extracting
Rockhopper acreage could be economic at
an oil price as
low as $25 per barrel.
how long until it it will actually be flowing?
Not sure Cynic but with Desire they have always said if they hit oil that they would sell up or sell part of it to a major oil company so its very good that Desire have Acadia as partner as Acadia are part of the company of seadrill.
All you had to do was read the last interim report from RKH for most of this info
http://www.rockhopperexploration.co.uk/pdf/Interim_031208.pdf
Both Desire Petroleum and Rockhopper Exploration who both hold licence in the NFB are drill ready.
From Desire Petroleum Operational Update in Feb
http://www.desireplc.co.uk/investor_relations_announcements.php?article_id=119
The forecast for rig activity throughout 2009 is for a reduction which is supported by the willingness of contractors to enter into discussions that were not possible three months ago.
Several discussions are ongoing at the present time and it is envisaged more opportunities will present themselves in the near future.

plenty of rigs avaiable and have been for several months ..... try going to aberdeen and looking around.
all you have to do is read the TLW thread and you will see that 3 years from find to flow is exceptionally short ..... that particular find (off Ghana) is pretty easy in oily terms, which is not something you could say about the falklands .... 7/10 years is probably much closer than 3
extraction price .... now read what you wrote properly and without rose-coloured specs ..... 10/1 on that $25 is nowhere near the level at which it would be commercial to extract ..... iraq is about $55 i think, and that is not high in the realm of things ..... $70/80 is probably nearer the mark
