been busy making money elsewhere, so unless something takes my eye on NOWT thread, i doubt i shall comment much if at all

looks that tomorrow "short" will be the play
shall probably short ftse in a mo though not on a large scale

goldfinger - 10 Dec 2014 20:53 - 2418 of 2763

hmmmm just looking at FTSE 100, support at 6450 beginning of October, followed by support at 6420 beginning of feb.

Been pretty resiliant the FTSE 100 this afternoon.

6472 at the moment.

Looks to me that the US are unwinding/deleveraging early in prep for next year.

Still bullish for a XMAS bounce but we wont see it start until friday or mon next week.

Sold 5 positions off this afternoon. Wasnt going to lose that profit.

Folio looks solid on 10 positions now.

skinny - 11 Dec 2014 06:48 - 2419 of 2763

GF - post 2418 - do you mean support - FEB/OCT ?

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 07:32 - 2420 of 2763

Sorrry YES.....will edit.

cheers skinny.

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 08:08 - 2421 of 2763

OCDO breaking out.

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 13:48 - 2422 of 2763

Hmmm interesting looking at DOW futures 50 plus and a load of market news to come this afternoon.

IF and I say IF this news is positive it could set us up here in the UK for the start of the Xmas bounce on friday and right on cue from last 2 years, so if things pan out, a late buy or two this afternoon ........stocks that follow indicies eg, ARM may prove a good trading set up going forward.

Things could go tits up mind.

skinny - 11 Dec 2014 13:55 - 2423 of 2763

GF - most of that news was @1:30 and it was :-

CAD NHPI m/m 0.1% 0.2% 0.1%

CAD Capacity Utilization Rate 83.4% 82.9% 82.8%

USD Core Retail Sales m/m 0.5% 0.1% 0.4%

USD Retail Sales m/m 0.7% 0.4% 0.5%

USD Unemployment Claims 294K 299K 297K

USD Import Prices m/m -1.5% -1.7% -1.2%

cynic - 11 Dec 2014 14:30 - 2424 of 2763

hey you bad tempered old git :-) ....... many thanks for the heads up on OCDO ..... bought in this morning, so nicely in the money

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 14:58 - 2425 of 2763

OCDO + 6%, yep Cyners, very nice and looks at the moment my thinking in post 2422 was spot on although we will take a good half day to catch the Yanks as usual.

AHT and ARM usually follow the FTSE 100.

In AHT.

ARM may follow.

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 14:59 - 2426 of 2763

Good post skinny and appreciated.

irlee57 - 11 Dec 2014 15:21 - 2427 of 2763

can I also shower some congratulations on you, this is the best thread on the site,

pity I have no cash ( at the moment) to follow your observations.

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 15:22 - 2428 of 2763

You look at the Yanks and the Germans indicies roaring away then look at ours and wonder if a COG is stuck or something. Give me strength.

Its alway s the same, and then we wake up the day after but then get caught with some shitty report at lunch time coming out of Wall Street.

cynic - 11 Dec 2014 16:20 - 2429 of 2763

OCDO
banked nice profit at 353 for which many thanks ...... markets are so volatile am trying to bank respectable profits as they arise

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 16:31 - 2430 of 2763

Tomorrow officialy marks the start of the Santa rally, have you been a little premature cyners??.

goldfinger - 11 Dec 2014 16:33 - 2431 of 2763

Thanks irlee57, just wish a few more or lot more would post there thoughts here, everyone is welcome beginners, intermediate, and experts.

Its eveyones thread.

cynic - 11 Dec 2014 17:24 - 2432 of 2763

possibly but the markets are just so unpredictable at the moment

cynic - 11 Dec 2014 19:38 - 2433 of 2763

as i was saying .......
dow now only +120 at 17655 and its been at least 100 points higher
as a result, cash ftse is now down 45 at 6430

it'll be very interesting to see how dow closes as that could have a major influence on tomorroiw's markets everywhere

goldfinger - 12 Dec 2014 08:20 - 2434 of 2763

Still bullish cyners hardly put a dent in my folio this morning.

Just think Santa is a tad late this year. Probably forgot to put his beard on.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2014 08:33 - 2435 of 2763

Not what I expected for to-day,

I had a small amounts running with what I thought wide stop loss, but Av, was challenged.

Bugger Santa!

Ummh

Chris Carson - 12 Dec 2014 08:51 - 2436 of 2763

Love your optimism gf, been stopped out of most recent trades. Only spread bets left open are CINE and ITV both March Contracts. Running Limit buys 10 pips above current sp.'s in HWDN, ADN and BA. in the event of a Santa rally.
