Doesn't look so good currently with general malaise as well. Hanging in for the moment, main write up in Momentum Investor at the weekend and one of their naps for 2008 on fast developing new mines.

Greyhound - 17 Dec 2007 09:24 - 246 of 2076

Out too, cash is king at the moment.

cynic - 18 Dec 2007 10:39 - 247 of 2076

but keep watching this .... POG has been hammered because of its slightly disappointing JORC statement (if that is the correct term), but sp has now completely tumbled out of bed ...... surely must be a buy if sp hits 200 dma, and there may even be some decent support before then ......

to repeat ..... i did not say buy; i said watch with a view to perhaps/probably buying in due course

cynic - 18 Dec 2007 10:41 - 248 of 2076

current level (1200) has potential, and to me, 1100 looks hot!

Arbuthnot cut to sell this morning. I'd like a chance at the 200dma to get back in.

cynic - 18 Dec 2007 11:12 - 250 of 2076

perhaps we'll get that ..... what target from Arbuthnot?

Greyhound - 18 Dec 2007 11:41 - 251 of 2076

none mentioned yet that I see, just a headline currently

Greyhound - 18 Dec 2007 14:58 - 252 of 2076

target, £10. Excessive if you ask me, I don't think this allows for the potential of the mines coming onstream.

cynic - 18 Dec 2007 15:04 - 253 of 2076

thanks m8 .... will keep watching, but i agree £10.00 is unduly pessimistic i would have thought

cynic - 20 Dec 2007 11:45 - 254 of 2076

nearly jumped back in yesterday, but glad i did not ...... long rns to be found on Newswatch, but below is a very brief extract .....

Last week's report by Wardell Armstrong International transferred some of the company's resources to a Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) basis, acceptable in the west, from Russian standards. However, a detailed look at the 318-page report has resulted in some analysts questioning Peter Hambro's ability to reach its 1 mln ounce production target by 2010.

sp now looks almost certain to fall to 200 dma, and the Q then is whether or not that will hold .... if not £10.00 next stop ...... of course, there are mutterings that POG could be a t/o target, but am sure any predator will also wait a while before throwing his hat in the ring.

CEY may make an interesting alternative gold play, even though that is something of a minnow

Greyhound - 20 Dec 2007 12:46 - 255 of 2076

I read "some" of the report. I'm holding fire for the 200mda too and then a "let's see" approach. I don't doubt it's ability to reach the 1m ounce target - some of the developing mines could well prove quite exciting.

Greyhound - 02 Jan 2008 09:18 - 256 of 2076

Jury's still out on this one for me at the moment but perhaps we won't be testing that 200dma support? Gold very strong again today and not long before we test the $850 level.

cynic - 02 Jan 2008 09:53 - 257 of 2076

looks to me like support as predicted at 1200 from which sp has bounced ..... could do with PTH's wisdom!

Falcothou - 02 Jan 2008 23:07 - 258 of 2076

Intention to move to main listing after 6 years on AIM. This usually bodes well for shares at least according to the nakedtrader. Forced purchase by trackers fund managers. May buy especially with gold above 850!

Greyhound - 04 Jan 2008 12:18 - 259 of 2076

Excellent read on gold:
http://www.kitco.com/ind/Kirtley/jan022008.html

If POG does go for a full listing I'm not sure to what extent we will see selling ahead of buying back into the ISA. I certainly like the prospects of buying in the ISA if we don't move ahead too quickly.

cynic - 04 Jan 2008 12:20 - 260 of 2076

bought yesterday and showing a modest profit ..... did so as i only had very limited gold exposure via CEY (doing very nicely) and HMB (doing fuck all!) .... i also hold HOC but i see that as more of a silver play

steveo - 08 Jan 2008 08:35 - 261 of 2076

Gold shoots up again but pog drops, can anyone explain?? Have they hedged it at a silly price?

Greyhound - 08 Jan 2008 08:46 - 262 of 2076

No, under JORC the extractable gold has been reduced - still suffering from that I would imagine. Plus if they go fully listed there will be those that are perhaps sitting on hefty profits that they will need to realise before possibly rebuying once fully listed. Just an idea.

cynic - 08 Jan 2008 09:40 - 263 of 2076

sp has dropped through 25 dma again ...... probably not the day to buy, though 1200 may be

cynic - 30 Jan 2008 13:16 - 264 of 2076

don 't currently hold but still actively watch ...... sp has been very unsettled of late - see 3 month chart below ...... sp is now just teasing below what should be solid support where 25+50 dma coincide ...... the brave trader (not me!) may want to consider buying (would be my choice) or even selling at this juncture
