Media Corp (Gaming Corpoartion GMC)Attracting Some Big Names. (MDC)

goldfinger - 05 Dec 2003 00:33

Up nearlly 15% today and I beleive there could be more to come.

Evil Knievil has tipped it on EvilCast and has bought in 100,000 worth of stock a notifiable interest. He rates the management very highly and says they are attracting all the big bookmakers to the online casino site including punters the likes of William Hill, Chandler, and Ladbrokes. The company are now running at a profit every month and should break into a yearly profit from the years previous loss very soon. The company also ownes in partnership with a Swiss firm Boss another casino site and by all accounts that is doing well.

Im looking at this one as a momentum play pretty high risk as there are competitors out there but I feel the management will give it the edge.

Please DYOR, and remember you are responsible for your own buying and selling actions.

cheers GF.

Here's the lemming article, if you have time or inclination well worthy of a read!
Here's the full article which in my view has not picked up on the significance of the betfair contract!

Those wise enough to subscribers to the excellent http://www.t1ps.com and who listen to the fortnightly EvilCast with the infamous bear raider Evil Knievil will be only too aware of Evil Knievil's interest in Gaming Corporation (GMC). Indeed the Great Bear has been "just sitting there" and adding to his holdings for close to a year now. Whilst Cawky does not always get things right, I believe that he is spot on being long of Gaming Corp, and the following report should help to shed some light on why EK's gamble should pay rich rewards. I should declare at this stage that I own shares and warrants in Gaming Corporation.

The Business

Listed on the Alternative Investment Market, Gaming Corporation is an interactive gaming business which owns and operates the UK's number 1 casino portal, http://www.casino.co.uk. The company is focussed on two divisions:

Advertising - Casino.co.uk promotes online gaming websites by the hosting of banners on the website. These banners are hosted on a cost-per-click revenue model whereby Gaming Corporation earns a fee each time a banner is clicked upon by a user. Casino traffic is amongst the most highly paid per click on the internet.

Promotion and Management - Gaming Corporation operates its own online casinos, the primary site located at http://play.casino.uk.

Eyeconomy Limited

Eyeconomy was formed in 1996, and is a separate operating division of Gaming Corporation. Eyeconomy specialises in the various sectors of online marketing and advertising, such as online media planning and buying, as well as managing online media campaigns for clients including Betfair, eBay and Multimap.

The operating division of Eyeconomy was acquired from OFEX listed Eyeconomy Holdings in May 2004, with the objective of driving more traffic to Gaming Corporation's gaming assets. In the year to December 2003 Eyeconomy had turnover of over 1.4 million pounds and an operating profit of 0.2 million pounds, which will further strengthen Gaming Corporations financial position.

History

Gaming Corporation was founded by Justin Drummond in March 2000, and become an AIM listed Plc as a result of the reverse takeover of Chrome Technology (a 1.5 Million pounds listed cash shell) in May 2001. In August 2002 the Group changed its name from Xworks Plc to Gaming Corporation Plc to reflect the Company's increasing focus on its gaming operations. The Company now operates http://www.casino.co.uk a leading gaming portal, and an online casino at play.casino.co.uk. In May 2004 the company acquired Eyeconomy Limited, the operating division of Eyeconomy Holdings.

Vision

The Company's vision is to create a leading interactive gaming business. This goal will be achieved through the on-going development and launch of new products and through the acquisition of key online gaming assets.

Products

http://www.casino.co.uk - Casino.co.uk offers a wide variety of information on the online gaming industry. It focuses on industry news, advice, and editorial comment, as well as advertising leading casino websites. Casino.co.uk is one of the principal marketing sites for the world's leading casino operators including Ladbrokes, Casino on Net, Trafalgar Betting and the Ritz Online Ltd.

http://www.play.casino.co.uk - Gaming Corporation launched its own online casino in December 2002. Located at http://play.casino.co.uk, the casino is powered by Boss Media software, one of the leading software providers in the gambling field. The casino offers players the choice of a fully downloadable version or a java instant play browser based casino. The most popular casino games are Roulette, Blackjack and Poker, and are available to play either privately or multiplayer.

http://www.eyeconomy.co.uk - Eyeconomy is a subsidiary of Gaming Corporation, having been acquired in May 2004. Eyeconomy specialises in online marketing; planning and buying media, including banners, buttons, e-mail, SubSites, Search Engine Promotion and the ilk. The Eyeconomy Consulting division provides online marketing strategy advice and support.

http://instant.casino.co.uk - Instant.Casino.co.uk offers punters the opportunity to play a strong selection of instant play games, such as slot machines, scratch cards, number and card games. The games can be played for free to accrue points and great prizes, or pay-for-play to win cash. The site was launched in April 2004 and is proving to be a very successful addition to the Gaming Corporation products portfolio.

http://poker.casino.co.uk - Gaming Corporation has launched its own multiplayer poker product. Poker is one of the most popular games in the online casino arena and increasingly players are forming poker communities. The poker product links all Boss Media casino players and therefore provides the volume necessary for successful multiplayer poker.

The Internet Poker Industry

Online poker has become a global industry with a turnover of 15 billion pounds per annum, equivalent to 40 million pounds per day. Ten per cent of the online poker revenue is from Britain, ensuring that it is now the third biggest gaming industry in the world, behind America and Japan. It is forecast that the small commission charged by websites for hosting a game will rise to $1 billion in 2004, up from $100 million in 2001.

In 2004 the portal, Casino.co.uk, introduced a new poker area to focus on the significant contribution that is made to the internet gaming industry from this game. The poker area allows for targeted advertising by operators of the game.

On 28th October it was announced that Sportingbet PLC had acquired http://www.paradisepoker.com for an initial consideration of 169.1 million pounds. This deal highlights the value of poker websites. According to Alexa.com paradisepoker.com is not as popular as casino.co.uk, which further highlights the value of the casino.co.uk domain name.

White Label Casinos

As part of the business growth strategy, Gaming Corporation provides a white label casino service to third party sites. These sites have either an established brand, customer userbase or marketing spend and are interested in providing an online casino to their users and therefore extending their brand. White labels sites currently include: http://www.casinoforcharities.com, http://www.casino.ie, http://www.f1casino.co.uk, http://www.grandnationalcasino.co.uk, http://www.casinowheel.co.uk, http://www.mickeasterbyscasino.com, http://www.girlsontopcasino.com, http://www.britishamericancasino.com, http://www.mrblackscasino.com.

http://www.onthebox.com

Onthebox is an Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) providing the software to deliver TV listings to the Internet.

Onthebox is now one of the leading suppliers of online TV listings in the UK market. Clients include The Sun (part of News Group Newspapers Ltd) and Jersey Insight.

The Onthebox application includes email and SMS programme alerts so that registered users can ensure they never miss their favourite programme. Over a third of a million people now use Onthebox each month for their TV listings.

Onthebox generates revenue from software licence and hosting fees.

The Growth Of Online Gaming

As the number of internet users worldwide has grown steadily, so too has the number of people using internet gaming sites. Research into the internet gaming sector by The River City Group and Christiansen Capital Advisors shows that net gaming revenues for all types of gaming on the internet is now in the region 4 billion pounds, compared with 750 million pounds in 1999.

Casino.co.uk - Domain Name Valuation

The domain name casino.com was sold by Boss Media in 2003 for $5.5 million (3 million pounds), with no operating business. The valuation of domain names has continued to rise in 2004 fuelled by the growing E-commerce industry. It is difficult to place a value on Gaming Corporation's casino.co.uk URL, but with an operating business attached the value is most likely in excess of 5 million pounds.

Plans To Grow The Business Organically And Through Acquisition

The board plans to grow the business both organically and through acquisition. The directors are committed to only considering acquisitions that are profitable and that offer clear synergies with the current business. On 5th May 2004 the company announced the acquisition of Eyeconomy Limited, the profitable operating division of Eyeconomy Holdings PLC. This acquisition provides clear synergies with Gaming Corporation's marketing infrastructure, and will ensure a greater level of traffic to the company's gaming assets. The acquisition of Eyeconomy Limited further strengthens the company's finances. For the year ending 31st December 2003 Eyeconomy Limited had an operating profit of 0.2 million pounds, cash inflows of 0.35 million pounds, and net assets of 0.09 million pounds.

The Growth Of Broadband Internet Connection In The UK

The growth of broadband usage in the UK is important to the success of Gaming Corporation's business. Instant casino websites are designed for broadband usage, and as such the increase in broadband users will ensure proportionate growth in the online gaming market. Therefore the growth in broadband should inevitably see more traffic to both Gaming Corporation's casino portal, http://www.casino.co.uk, and the casino operation http://www.play.casino.co.uk.

There are currently just over 5 million broadband users in the UK, and this is forecast to rise to 8 million by the end of 2005, which will represent 32% of the market.

The Growth Of Casino.co.uk

As reported by Gaming Corporation in their RNS of 6th July 2004, Casino.co.uk now generates over 300,000 unique visitors per month, a strong rise from the figure of 100,000 unique visitors given in the results on 26th November, 2003.

Alexa.com, which provides detailed traffic rankings for all internet websites, shows that over a three month period casino.co.uk has averaged a ranking of 27,157. This figure is an increase of 11,921 places on the three month period, and is shown by the graph below illustrated with an upward trend line.

According to Alexa.com there are 723 websites with a link to casino.co.uk.

Further Quantitative Evidence Of Internet Gaming Growth

Further evidence of the growth in internet gaming can be gleaned from the increased usage of other sites. Over the past three months 888.com, the world's most popular internet gaming site, has moved inside the top 300 most popular sites, an increase of 195 places on the period. The same is true of Casino.com, which has gained 5,376 places to 14,981.

Combined Offices With Eyeconomy

Gaming Corporation has moved its business to the Eyeconomy office in Queen Victoria Street, London. This will represent a saving in the region of 75,000 pounds per year from the cost of the rent of having both businesses in the same vicinity.

Directors

Chief Executive - Justin Drummond, aged 31, founded Gaming Corporation in March 2000, six years after his first marketing business was established. Justin saw Gaming Corporation admitted to AIM, just a year after its inception, via the reverse takeover of Chrome Technology PLC in May 2001.

Executive Chairman - Jason Drummond, aged 35, brings an immense amount of corporate acumen to the board of Gaming Corporation. Jason founded Virtual Internet in 1995, which became one of the first European web-hosting companies to be quoted on a major stock exchange. Virtual Internet was taken over for 12 million pounds by NASDAQ listed Register.com in 2002.

Finance Director - Peter Williams a qualified chartered accountant, aged 37, provides consultancy advice to a number of internet based businesses, including ASOS.com. Peter's career includes corporate finance with Rea Brothers, and Finance Director at Virtual Internet.

Executive Director - Charles Black, aged 33, is a qualified barrister. In 1998 Charles founded Nastaar, an Internet Service Provider especially for businesses. Charles has been with Gaming Corporation for four years, having joined Justin Drummond at the company's inception in March 2000. Charles' principal role is focussing on the sales and marketing of the Group's products.

Communications Director - Damion Greef, aged 36, has been involved with communications and online marketing industries for over ten years. Damion has spent most of his career in the Financial Public Relations industry with Leadenhall Communications, and Holborn PR. Damion is in charge of the Group's Public, Investor, and Media Relations.

Target Price

The target price for the end of 2005 is 5p, which will see the share price back to its highest level, last seen in 2001.

moneyplus - 09 Nov 2004 00:36 - 26 of 1117

All sounds very positive until you reach the paltry 5p target for end 2005! I thought with the explosive growth prospects 50p would not be unrealistic, I can't see Evil being satisfied with 5p.

proptrade - 02 Feb 2005 16:53 - 27 of 1117

Thanks for the info gavdfc-I have been waiting a long time for this one to show some life. I now feel it's going to reward the patient as Warren Buffet would say. Some very large buys today following the directors lead I also thought that Evil K owned a large chunk of the company but perhaps he moved on, he certainly has tipped it strongly. onward and up please! cheers MP

No problems guys, certainly pretty volatile in the sp action today with healthy volume although I think most of the volume concerns a few large trades. With Evil buying another 1.4m, that will get mentioned in his emails from UK-analyst no doubt, along with his webcasts. Certainly a hot sector though both with online advertising and gaming. Just look at NLR and SBT!

Don't have a position here but am watching.

mickeyskint - 03 Feb 2005 15:54 - 33 of 1117

This has gone through the roof today. Well done to all who hold. I'm tempted but will have to do home work first.

I'm shocked! This is flying!! I'm stumped, what is going on here? Wouldn't have thought some high profile buys would have done this to the share in such a short time. Something in the background happening?

bigbobjoylove - 04 Feb 2005 13:24 - 41 of 1117
