Still Waiting - 25 Jul 2008 23:22

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=BLNX&S

With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

63 is 25 dma which MAY provide support if markets allow and/or if sp continues to fall .... i think that makes sense!

halifax - 24 Aug 2010 18:09 - 2508 of 6187

cynic looks like a short to us, common sense will prevail ...... eventually.

cynic - 24 Aug 2010 18:11 - 2509 of 6187

personally, i am undecided but certainly agree, as already posted, that this is currently backing a lot of blue sky (and a long bullish report in QL 4/6 weeks ago)

Haystack,

I'm inclined to disagree with you on the quality of the AccuWeather news, as I am of the opinion that it could potentially be a good deal. It really is a shame though that they don't talk numbers in the RNS.

To explain my thinking, I yesterday clicked on a page containing an internet video and, as the video started, up popped an advert within a lightbox which occupied the lower quarter of the video screen. I guess the advert itself was selected by Google AdSense and I thought it was a bit invasive at the time, so straight away hit the "x" to close it.

From what I can work out, this is the sort of thing that Blinkx's AdHoc does. The bad news from Blinkx's viewpoint is probably that Google are right up there alongside them (if not ahead) in terms of development, but I think it's important to bear in mind that AccuWeather is exceptionally well branded so the potential from a deal like this is enormous.

I don't know how popular this type of advertising will ultimately prove to be as, like I say, I thought it was quite invasive. It's the sort of thing that could soon p!ss people off.

I've got to say though that I think it's a neat idea at this stage and I'm sure you'll see a lot more of it in the months ahead.

tabasco - 24 Aug 2010 18:39 - 2512 of 6187

Halifaxwas I close?....JKDwhat is your position on BLNX if their head office is hit by an asteroid?just giving you a way out if the unexpected happensI think youve covered yourself on everything else?

Haystack - 24 Aug 2010 18:50 - 2513 of 6187

tabby
I think we are discussing different things. You are suggesting that the sp may well rise and I think you are probably right in the short to medium trerm. I am suggesting that it is fundamentally a crap company that will be worth close to nothing in the long term.

jkd - 24 Aug 2010 18:56 - 2514 of 6187

t
my position is "flat" i may or may not be short tomorrow as i have already informed both you and everyone else already.
i have nothing to hide and no axe to grind.why do i need a way out? what of?
be prepared and have a plan. i am and do. no asteroid yet.
i will keep everyone posted

HaystackI wasnt talking to youHilary wasnow dont be rude and answer her

hilary - 24 Aug 2010 19:00 - 2516 of 6187

Tabster,

Haystack doesn't need to answer me. I was merely offering an opinion on the AccuWeather deal to demonstrate that I'm not blinkered.

Haystack - 24 Aug 2010 19:06 - 2517 of 6187

Interesting comparison from Quantcast

Blinkx.com get about 5.7m visitors a month and video.google.com gets 36m

Google's hit rate is rising and Blinkx's is falling.

What makes the comparison even more interesting is that Blinkx's data is global and Google's is just the US!

It looks like Blinkx is going nowhere.

jkd - 24 Aug 2010 19:10 - 2518 of 6187

LoL h
should that be blinxered? and no it didnt go over my head, hence the LoL.
regards
jkd

Haystack - 24 Aug 2010 19:12 - 2519 of 6187

Youtube is about 111m per month just in the US. I have looked at several video search sites and Blinkx is really nowhere.

Today they are ranked number 207

http://www.quantcast.com/top-sites-3

Its position is even 6 worse than wimp.com - LOL

201 wimp.com 5.9M+ U.S. monthly people. The site appeals to a 50+, more affluent audience.
