From an articlr posted on GENEL thjread.
On the strength of such speculation, rumors have been swirling. Gulf Keystone seems a likely target for an acquisition, and any number of big names could make the move – ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Eni, Total, Gazprom, TNK-BP, TPAO, Lukoil, KNOC, all have been mentioned by industry insiders and spectators. Such companies might also take up the handful of remaining unsigned blocks, buy into other currently signed blocks, or takeover smaller companies altogether.

Bermuda-registered Gulf Keystone Petroleum is exploring financing of the pipeline to send crude from Shaikan, one of three blocks the company is invested in. That field, which is generating near 5,000 bpd now while well testing and development continue, is pegged for a 440,000 bpd capacity.

"avoiding CGT thereby?"
If they were liable for it - no it wouldn't avoid it. Or we'd all be at it. I just transfer my shares to my wife and she sells them next week for no taxable gain? Nope. There is no gain crystallised by the transfer from one spouse to another, but still liable for the full gain on final sale.

"it does look like the mm's have a system in place to either bang this into auction or straight to no firm order process - the second they get wind of some volume or change.
Not seen this before on GKP so might suggest that they are all on high alert.
I tried to buy 10k earlier at 270p and got no firm order.
Hardly a massive size block is it!?
Interesting times indeed.
Are they worried about being raided by far east buyers again?

GKP is looking spicy again.
Looking at the sharp rise in GENL and its still rising I am guessing we are going to be having some good news coming on the BB drill quite soon.
As ever, DYOR, but some good BB news will surely push this up and through the 350p level imv.

Continuation on a series of posts from mansooreo on iii:--
21:55 Re: latest from ebril mansooreo 16
a few additions that i dint hav time to note.
* Exxon seem like they are favorites at this point as suitors for Gulf. If this is fact then expect a low TO price, but none the less multipiles of where we are now.
* Exxon had a meeting in Gelgand and are know to have informal talks with the krg reps regarind birs.
* BB1 halted its drilling as they hit a resovior and testing is underway.
* I have been told that there wil be a drill update befre end of month. There will be no mention of bids as now formal bids have been received.
* baker hughs have been sniffing round Sh4
end of the day, time to go home!

Strong rumours are perpetuating that the Ber Bahr-1 drill has struck oil, this is backed in in some ways by the strong moves upwards of GENL.
Any oil strike there could have strong upside implications for GKP.
News should be soon there as spudded on 10th October 2011, but, as ever, DYOR.
(Gulf Keystone has a 40 percent working interest in the Ber Bahr block operated by Genel Energy International Limited, which holds a 40 percent working interest in the block. The Kurdistan Regional Government has a 20 percent carried interest in the Ber Bahr Production Sharing Contract.
The Operator's resource estimate for the Ber Bahr block is 1.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent-initially-in-place. The adjacent Shaikan is a major discovery with independently audited gross oil-in-place volumes of 4.9 (P90) to 10.8 (P10) billion barrels, while it is estimated that Sheikh Adi holds between 1 (P90) and 3 (P10) billion barrels of gross oil-in-place.)

Prosel, yes i believe it's looking good for BB and the end of the month sounds about right. As far as the value to GKP,if successful would be 40p(184p to GENL)at this early stage. If as thought it's one and half times bigger than Shaikan, then WOW,but of course
a couple of years or so and some serious money required to bring it to the same stage as Shaukan.
Concerning GENL's rise of late, they recently had Analysts crawling all over them. They have quite a few other Fields, some in operation and is the biggest oil producer Kurdistan.
So maybe the rise is not all down to BB,also remember when comparing the difference in number of shres, 890m/187m.

Living up to your name i see, nothing wrong in that. But if we take the 1.5 times figure this would be arrived from various tests carried out,"so yes they do know more than us",(don't make them right though). Analysts were the guests of GENL recently and from the SP,seems their'e happy with what they saw. As far as info leaking, happens all the time,
workers having a couple of days off(NO you win;t pass on the good news?),only time will tell but as i mentioned earlier posters get known and accordingly as to whether creditable.
