With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

Haystack.

The tote made it's money on turnover and not taking risks laying so why would
they lay off a bet when they get 25% of whatever goes into the pool.

You are talking to somebody that used to also work for a local bookmaker a long
time ago so before you come back with a silly response have a little think first :-))

ravey davy gravy - 26 Aug 2010 13:56 - 2596 of 6187

ps..the tote now is a total waste of time, their own greed has been their downfall taking way too much a % out of the pot, anybody that does not use betfair to bet is a mug as all other forms of betting will rip you off.

Betfair was good for a while but it's obviously been taken over by professional punters using laptops at the tracks who can see when a price is about to come
in or drift out before the price changes get back to the bookies screens, easy money for them and yourself if you can be bothered to go to the tracks each day
and do this, too many people i suspect will be trying to do the same thing now.

I dont bet anymore, my only form of gambling is the shares and gambling is a good
word since Aim arrived.

RDG...I make money on exchangesbut it comes with a lot of workbtw while I kept haystack talkinglook at the sp.lolcome on sunshine Quantcast and Alexadont slack!

The Tote doesn't lay-off bets. Read the post above carefully. Bookies lay off bets on to the Tote as it pays better on many outsiders. William Hill in particular used lay-off huge sums of money every day.

ravey davy gravy - 26 Aug 2010 14:26 - 2601 of 6187

I dont believe that for a second !

You plough a load of money into the tote you are cutting your own throat !

They dont get a big enough pool for the win/place to justify putting in a large
amount.

I think you are talking total nonesense, straight away 25% of your money is lost to the tote, then you will dramatically reduce the odds putting too much money on one horse, these little meetings dont take that much on the tote.

Haystack - 26 Aug 2010 14:35 - 2602 of 6187

rdg
That is what used to happen around 1965. It was only on the outsiders and it was mainly the big bookies.

I was there when the Jackpot bet was invented. The Tote tried to hide the fact that there were a couple of regular punters who got a share of the majority of Jackbots.

There was an interesting 'fiddle' going on at the time. If you rang the credit Tote at one of their regional branches to make a bet close to the off there would be no time to transmit the figures to London and get it added into the pool, so they just used to keep the money and not put it in the pool. They used to call it 'broken money'. For big races at Ascot, Epsom, the National etc it could amount to very large sums of money.

tabasco - 26 Aug 2010 14:35 - 2603 of 6187

RDG....he is talking utter Bo**ocks...let me put it a 10 year old way....

Haystack.let us do this simply if you had laid a bet personally and had a monkey running on a 10/1 chance [5000 liability].you could lay half with another Bookmaker and guarantee to reduce your liabilities by 2,500...Haystack you claim you or a Bookmaker would choose to lay the 250 with a tote pool that he has no influence on price returnfor example his hedge might start a punt off and return the odds dramaticallyyou are brain dead and a bullshitter!

Haystack - 26 Aug 2010 14:43 - 2604 of 6187

I have actually found a piece from written answers from the House of Commons that talks about bookies laying off on the Tote. It also complains about the 'fiddle' I mentioned above of not transmitting money to the pool. This is in 1980 and refers to procedures during the 1970s and earlier.

"6. Bets laid off by outside bookmakers for inclusion in the pool were placed with Tote Credit Limited as agent for the Tote for onward transmission to the course after the result of the race. The opportunity existed, therefore, for this procedure to be abused by the staff of Tote Credit Limited. It was abused because not all losing bets were put into the pool. 6 out of 995 Win Pools examined were affected in this way."

Haystack - 26 Aug 2010 14:44 - 2605 of 6187

Not such Bo**ocks after all! It was Willie Whitelaw making the reply discussing bookies laying off on the Tote.

"The opportunity existed, therefore, for this procedure to be abused by the staff of Tote Credit Limited. It was abused because not all losing bets were put into the pool. "

ravey davy gravy - 26 Aug 2010 14:48 - 2606 of 6187

Sorry Haystack but you have indeed wrote total rubbish by saying that the large bookies lay off outsiders using the tote :-))

Large bookies want outsiders to win, even if one or two joe blogs have 100 each
on a 33/1 shot there's millions riding on the first 5 in the betting in each race around
the country

cynic - 26 Aug 2010 14:49 - 2607 of 6187

surely all this crap could go to the horse racing thread

meanwhile, BLNX stays firm just above the support of +/-68.5

tabasco - 26 Aug 2010 14:56 - 2608 of 6187

Haystackthey were laying off bets within their own companyshady dealings a form of market abuse that was corrected and that was over 30 years agono Bookmaker would lay off a bet without an unknown price return..
Haystack I am not going to gang up on you anymoreyou have done yourself enough damageso ffs give it a restno wonder you are an ex. MD!

Haystack - 26 Aug 2010 14:57 - 2609 of 6187

rdg
Even when I proved that bookies lay off bets on the Tote you still try and find something wrong with it. I have a Parliamentary statement admitting it and I also used to work there when it happened.

What a total idiot you are. You were and are plainly wrong.

ROFLMAO

Haystack - 26 Aug 2010 14:59 - 2610 of 6187

"6. Bets laid off by outside bookmakers for inclusion in the pool were placed with Tote Credit Limited as agent for the Tote"

At the time I was there it was called 'Tote Investors'.

tabasco - 26 Aug 2010 15:00 - 2611 of 6187

tabasco - 26 Aug 2010 15:02 - 2612 of 6187

Haystack - 26 Aug 2010 15:10 - 2614 of 6187

No they weren't tote Bookmakers - "outside bookmakers " Tote Credit Ltd is just the credit version of the Tote. It is the same company as the Tote. They were both part of the Horse Race totalisator Board.
