Media Corp (Gaming Corpoartion GMC)Attracting Some Big Names. (MDC)

goldfinger - 05 Dec 2003 00:33

Up nearlly 15% today and I beleive there could be more to come.

Evil Knievil has tipped it on EvilCast and has bought in 100,000 worth of stock a notifiable interest. He rates the management very highly and says they are attracting all the big bookmakers to the online casino site including punters the likes of William Hill, Chandler, and Ladbrokes. The company are now running at a profit every month and should break into a yearly profit from the years previous loss very soon. The company also ownes in partnership with a Swiss firm Boss another casino site and by all accounts that is doing well.

Im looking at this one as a momentum play pretty high risk as there are competitors out there but I feel the management will give it the edge.

Please DYOR, and remember you are responsible for your own buying and selling actions.

cheers GF.

Personally speaking I'm quite pleased to see a bit of a retrace, as hard as it may be. Added to my holding, though not as much as I'd like due to the fact I had a two-hour afternoon nap when the arse first fell out of it. Hopefully some stability and then back on the GMC train.

lucashydraulics - 28 Feb 2005 16:48 - 268 of 1117

We need a more conservative 17 / 17.5 tomorrow!
The floor today was 15 and hopefully will hold tomorrow - although a lot of sales posted after the bell so a little bit more down pressure than we thought.
Still this is in a growth sector and it is a great company making money - so what is a penny or two. Six months time it will seem irrelavent!
Ciao
Lucas
ps Good luck to everyone for tomorrow!

mickeyskint - 28 Feb 2005 16:49 - 270 of 1117

Look at the amount of sells posted after the closing bell. This is begining to look dodgy.

Paulo2 - 28 Feb 2005 16:52 - 271 of 1117

The top eight of those "sells" are buys if you look at the SP at the time they went through. And one of them was mine!

Who is CANACCORD, their new advisers?
Based on Canada, does not exactly inspire confidence!

I think you should do a bit of research!
Canaccord is the biggest market maker in Canada and practically runs the whole Canadian market including the major oil stocks as well as the gambling, and Neteller are funny enough a Canadian company, who practically finance every online gambler and casino credit in the world.
As you might have noticed Canada is next door to America, where gambling is illegal, hence they are HUGE in online gambling
It may have also escaped your attention that partypoker, the company SBT bought was ...funny enough Canadian..

Cluckin bell folks, what a ride you've been on. I first saw this on here when gf posted, read a bit in Shares the other week but then went away for a few days and saw it fall from 9p to 7p so didn't bother. Envious of the profit ride last week, considered getting in but something bothered me, to say there are only 40m shares available, almost that amount has been traded on each of the last two days. Well done to all who have made profit and I hope you are all OK sort or long-term, too volatile for me. I hope the 6.1p trade after the bell is an error!!! Good Luck.

EWRobson - 28 Feb 2005 23:40 - 281 of 1117

Flabbergasted! Amazed! Intrigued! What next?

OK, we got to 13:00 with the sp zooming up as expected and then coming back a bit to 20.75p; marked buys of .1M; sells 3.9M but at elast 12M lost of that total when the computer couldn't keep up, got confused and returned to zero! Sounds like a gambling stake. This isn't Russian Roulette, is it?

Because of the F!A!I! above, I trawled through the deals: well not quite all as there were 2050 of them! Took a checkpoint at each half hour, as follows with buys, sells and price movement (have a look at the sp chart)

13:30 0.5M buys; 1.3M sells; price -1.375p
14:00 2.5M buys; 1.7M sells; price +0.2p
14:30 0.7M buys; 0.7M sells; price -1.075p
15:00 3.3M buys; 1.3M sells; price -0.875
15:30 1.6M buys; 1.8M sells; price -2p
16:00 3.5M buys; 2.2M sells; price +0.375p
16:30 3.4M buys; 3.9M sells; price +0.25p

So what's the logic? As pretty well throughout the day, buys outpaced sells. Logic says the price should rise: stock scarce; stop the buying; encourage the sellers. First thought in my mind was that one or more of the larger holders were off-loading; in other words, something that would come through as a T when order completed; but wouldn't that be at a particular price. Second thought was that it was a squeeze on short-term traders: with so few shares, each share must be traded several times on average. Third though, a variant on the second, was that MMs are playing a rather clever game, possibly right out of their text books. Price is rising, they are short of stock and the market could dry up with the price too high. So they flush out frightened sellers by dropping the price and these nanas rush to sell before all their profits have gone. They wait until the buying has abated at lunchtime before the ruse is operated. The euphoric bubble is burst. Normality returns.

Any other explanation? Problem is, what about tomorrow? Doesn't the low price attract a wave of buyers back in first thing and they don't have the stock to service it. Surely the same technique can't work again, or can it? Meantime, rather than a shooting star, we have a roller coaster. So hold on tight and don't let go!

Evils still long according to his lunch time review of his portfolio.

cheers GF. PS, looks like to me that you have been at the end of some MM trickery. Please remember the MMs make their money out of turnover, and it can be buys, sells or a combination of both.

cheers GF.
