It's a funny old day...............

StarFrog - 16 Dec 2004 12:55 - 2669 of 7811

Gosh, you are right sww. Hadn't actually noticed the start price at begining of the day. But reading the RNS suggests that there may still be an investment opportunity for some brave punters. There is no official word yet that the Iraq contracts have been awarded, and so PET may still be on the receiving end. If so, up it goes.

I don't hold PET, but my sympathy goes out to those of you who do. I know what its like to be on the end of a massive drop with the added burden of deciding to cash in at a loss or hold out forever in hope. (I've got PTG! and lost heavily on MFW).

seawallwalker - 16 Dec 2004 13:07 - 2670 of 7811

There is now, just posted a rueters update on PET bb.

StarFrog - 16 Dec 2004 13:14 - 2671 of 7811

sww - that's the one I was refering to. For those not read it:

The board of Petrel is aware of a Reuters report which states that the Khurmala
oilfield development contract has been awarded to a Turkish company and the
Hamrin oilfield development contract has been awarded to a Canadian company.
Petrel has received no notification or communication from any source in Iraq
confirming or denying this report. We are seeking immediate clarification from
the Oil Ministry in Iraq.

Surely, still room for a little optimism?

seawallwalker - 16 Dec 2004 13:26 - 2672 of 7811

No, there is another update
http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=7112952

It's gone.

StarFrog - 16 Dec 2004 13:29 - 2673 of 7811

sww - with you now. But still no confirmatory RNS yet.

seawallwalker - 16 Dec 2004 13:32 - 2674 of 7811

No. Nothing. Wierd or what?

StarFrog - 16 Dec 2004 13:34 - 2675 of 7811

Now how does that old saying go. No news is .........

seawallwalker - 16 Dec 2004 13:35 - 2676 of 7811

..........secret!

Not yet rubber stamped by the Oil Ministry.

willfagg - 16 Dec 2004 13:57 - 2677 of 7811

Clutching at straws me thinks ! The price had collapsed before i could sell so im stuck unless it does a rally. I think PET know more and should be upfront about what is lost and what they are still "in play" for

stockbunny - 16 Dec 2004 13:58 - 2678 of 7811

seaWallWalker - you have mail via the BB :>)

StarFrog - 16 Dec 2004 17:09 - 2679 of 7811

Happy Christmas to all in team SEY.

I'm off on hols now, so won't get the chances to read the thread for a while. Looking forward to a better run in the new year.

PS Where's my quid? ;>)

And don't forget, a share is not just for Christmas......

LOL

proptrade - 17 Dec 2004 10:31 - 2680 of 7811

MORNING ALL....how quiet is this!

happy xmas StarFrog! your quid is in the post.

namreh3 - 17 Dec 2004 15:42 - 2681 of 7811

Morgue city! Still - lots of tiddler trades today showing some renewed optimism. 2005 beckons.

seawallwalker - 17 Dec 2004 15:50 - 2682 of 7811

Been busy at PET.

Facinating story from start to finish, and it's not yet finished.

Kept me busy all day anyway.

Not much news here and won't be b4 christmas I reckon, the the stops may come off at last.

Is that called ramping or speculating?

seawallwalker - 17 Dec 2004 15:52 - 2683 of 7811

Of course Cairn is another facinating story.

The Indian Governemnt area bit greedy but probably no more so that the UK Government whe North Sea Oil was found I bet!

Did'nt expect this little update from them I must admit.

Good reason to get out of SEY befoe they hit 4 I reckon!

Beware.

seawallwalker - 17 Dec 2004 15:56 - 2684 of 7811

And if you are interested, WLW is nearing the bottom for a bit of channel trading before January Trading update imho.

My target to buy is under 42p, and sell at 46p.

May not seem much but you get a few thousand return in 2 months if you buy enough.

That is if it works as it has for thr last 2 years.

I never guarantee anything like that.

lizard - 17 Dec 2004 17:04 - 2685 of 7811

sterling energy at 4 we live in hope!!!!!!!!!!

proptrade - 17 Dec 2004 19:13 - 2686 of 7811

SWW you have been busy today! will look at WLW, cheers.

been out test driving cars this afternoon, need to annoy red ken and get a 4x4 for the third child...now i might buy an upmarket model if we see 4 quid!

mickeyskint - 18 Dec 2004 12:23 - 2687 of 7811
