TANDEM.... NOT ONLY A BICYCLE MADE FOR 2 - A BRILLIANT INVESMENT OPPORTUNITY TOO (TND)

legend290782 - 03 Feb 2005 13:30

The legend dipped his toe in the other week. This came from the tipper of ASC, DTG. Watch very very carefully. Potential 80% easily.

Very undervalued, plenty of cash, eps forecasts put company on a p/e of 3.

Although badly run, it looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel. DYOR

Legend,

Last year's profit was 609k. Do you have an estimate for y/e 31.01.05? Hard to find analysis of Tandem.

leslielipert - 18 Feb 2005 16:02 - 28 of 124

Investors Chronicle
27 August 2004

Tandem acquired MV Sports in April 2003 for 1.91m. The acquisition was quickly turned around and contributed operating profits of 1.25m last year. It also provides Tandem with a product-sourcing subsidiary in Hong Kong. Little is now manufactured in the UK, other than 40,000 Dawes and Claud Butler bicycles a year (out of a total of 350,000 sold by Tandem each year). Company broker Peel Hunt reckons that the benefits of the move offshore, in terms of reduced fixed overheads and improved margins, will push this year's profits over 1m

The Interim Profits before Taxation for the half year ending 31.07.04 were 173,000 compared with 45,000 the previous year

Has anyone any other estimates of the full years profits?

legend290782 - 19 Feb 2005 10:03 - 29 of 124

I have seen some somewhere, will get my man to find something. It was good to see yesterday mms paying 24p for decent stock size - 24k when bid 23.5.

I really think these will tick back up from here over the next few months.

legend290782 - 21 Feb 2005 21:45 - 30 of 124

Don't have any exact figures, just looked at last interims.

A nice tick up today... should think this will continue, no fireworks.. just steady away!!

legend290782 - 23 Feb 2005 19:01 - 31 of 124

Right then people, you want Tandems forecasts, then here they are:

Peel Hunt have some forecasts from December covering the year to 31/01/05.

They are forecast to make 2.1m profit with Earnings per share of 5.5p.

On that basis they are on a p/e of under 5!!!!

Not much more to say about that really is there??!!! If only I had more money LOL

Thanks Legend for sharing the Peel Hunt forecast with us.

Tandem must have had a really good second half for them to increase their August forecast of 'over 1.0m' to $2.1m.

Do you know when they are due to announcing the results?

Morning.

Newbie to the site but am interested in TND, and I saw the profit forecasts above.
Just to clarify, the Peel Hunt forecast is for 1.25m in 2005, followed by 2.1m for 2006.
Still PER of 7.46 for 2005 is very appealing !

legend290782 - 25 Feb 2005 13:18 - 35 of 124

Hi HC,

Yes, I think it is worth a punt for sure, I hold a 100k, wouldn't put money into it if I thought I would lose it. My broker likes em. Plus Peel Hunt are the NOMAD for Tandem. I am happy with the forecasts. I got my broker to look at the REFS (Really Essential Financial Statistics) to get some forecasts.

Last year up to results, they got a lot of coverage in IC coming up to the results. I would hope the same this year. It has a bit of cash which looks appealing too.

I will try and post the REFS attachment that I got e-mailed the other day.

Keep Smiling

Looks as though these could go sub 20p afterall... if they do.. I may go in and top up ?

legend290782 - 01 Mar 2005 13:11 - 37 of 124

Good decision, am not alarmed by the retracement.

profitmaker - 03 Mar 2005 16:29 - 38 of 124

Legend,

It's dropped a bit further. I'm hoping results will see this push ahead but that's not much good if it drops 10% before the results. how do you see this going over the next couple of weeks?

Jumpin - 03 Mar 2005 17:00 - 39 of 124

Bounced up 2.33% today

legend290782 - 03 Mar 2005 19:23 - 40 of 124

profitmaker, I am an investor, not a trader. Daily movements like we see do not concern me in the slightest... sit back, relax and enjoy... At the end of the day they are cheap, value always wins out in the end. April should highlight the value.

Keep Smiling,

Some big buyers starting to come in. Price held up well after recent retracement.

I am very confident about this now. I somehow think that the sideways trading pattern will be broken ;-)

MM's will only deal in 10k shares.

I'm waitng for the results. They will show what progress has been made and where the business is going. I've read a few negative comments elsewhere but I'm still confident that TND will start pushing forward as long as they can prove that the ailing businesses have been sorted out or disposed of. fingers crossed for April.

legend290782 - 10 Mar 2005 17:54 - 45 of 124

PM, don't worry, I have taken note of the 'bad' publicity on the other boards. I think this may get taken over - It is cheap. As always time will tell.

When have I ever let you down lovely??!!

I added this morning.

The Oxman - 11 Mar 2005 10:49 - 46 of 124

happy holder of this one on valuation play grounds - hopefully to be confirmed on results - also just bought into what I believe is another poorly covered stock ITRAIN (irn) on similar belief - DYOR of course.
