Earthport: Ready to fly (EPO)

jdubb - 04 Mar 2004 17:44

Some good news at last from this weeks Shares mag. Tim Freeborn revisits the company and altho no firm details are given about new deals he says they will be announced this quarter. I would think that this could be at the same time as the interim results are announced. I for one will be holding on cos they will fly sooner rather than later! ( 8.30% up today!)

Two bits of news today05 July 2004

Baltimore Technologies plc

Claim from Earthport plc

London, UK 2 July 2004; The Board of Baltimore Technologies plc announces that
it has today received from solicitors acting for Earthport plc details of
potential claims against Baltimore.

These alleged claims arose out of agreements entered into between Baltimore and
Earthport in March 2001. Earthport has not commenced legal proceedings in
respect of these claims. Its claims are for the return of its payment of 4.5
million to Baltimore under these agreements, with interest, plus additional
damages which Earthport is currently assessing but which it claims to be
substantial.

The Board of Baltimore will urgently look into this matter but knows of no
foundation for these alleged claims.

Having trouble posting second link but basically a contract with Wanadoo in the offing which accounted for the rise this morning.

Tim Freeborn in today's shares Mag

EARTHPORT(EPO)
HOLD/BUY
Shareholders have had fretful
moments with this company (the
writer holds 1.2 million shares) but
expect encouraging news later
this month. The launch of a US
sportsbook will be announced
plus details of the Wanadoo
contract. The claim against
Baltimore is for 13.5 million and
an even bigger one is imminent
against Egg. The timing is helped
by news that Egg is pulling out of
France. Stemming those losses
will make it easier for Prudential to
sell Egg. Earthport will lodge its
claim to coincide with the deal,
giving it good leverage.

Anyone know the reason for today's negative movement ? Thought the article in shares mag may have had a positive reaction.

moggey70 - 16 Jul 2004 10:48 - 281 of 706

anyone know were i can get accurte trades on money am and advfn the buys and sells are way out i topped again this morning if you look at the trades theres one for 72500 AT 1.871 and its down as a sell but its the trade that i bought
thanx

Helly - 16 Jul 2004 14:43 - 282 of 706

All deals @ 1.77 are currently buys. I just bought 200000.

Paulvoigt - 16 Jul 2004 15:34 - 283 of 706

So what's going on then? we are supposed to be expecting some foundation shaking news for the good and the shares are falling through the floor. Is this so when the news hits the street the shares will rocket back up to 2.5 pence again!!!!!!???

Sorry but I'm a little fed up with this one, I've watched it for 3 months and can see no logic, pattern, common sense to any days dealing, 20million shares will trade and its up 2-4% 250,000 trade and it will be down 10%

I'm close to closing this one and taking the loss, I'm just not clever enough to work out what's the score.

alderleyedge - 16 Jul 2004 16:24 - 284 of 706

had it with this one myself, but maybe mms would like us all closin out right now.i bought into this in jan, wish i had checked through charts and bought later with the aug to end of sept rises in mind!
maybe announcements to come will give us the lift for 2004

apple - 16 Jul 2004 17:06 - 285 of 706

I think it is the legal action against Baltimore.

It is a distraction & will make the lawyers even richer.

astonvilla - 16 Jul 2004 21:43 - 286 of 706

Did anything ever happen with the agreement with a US Bank.....it was almost at contract stage a few months back but then I have heard no news.

ssanebs - 16 Jul 2004 23:53 - 287 of 706

it was u.s. regulatory rules holding up the deal. tried to speak to RC on tuesday and he would not comment and passed me onto peter chappel, and his answer was i dont know what is going on. Amazing answer for a director! called back today to speak to RC and my number was taken and he did not call me back.
Note that RC told tim freeborn that the hong kong govt. deal was to launch on July 1st. He now says he never said that and the date is Oct 1st..... make your own conclusion. I think he's a bull.....er!!

stephendowns - 18 Jul 2004 00:16 - 288 of 706

It seems wrong that shares magazine are letting tim freeborn ramp his shares through the shares magazine, which we pay for.shares magazine again losing its credibility, also wigmore getting that wrong, there not any good anymore.the list is endless,I am no longer subscribins to them they have lost people to much money.

batty hill - 18 Jul 2004 00:39 - 289 of 706

Tim Freeborn

What is happening to this stock? I would be glad to hear any comments you have about it. I like so many others have bought this share on your reccomendations through the magazine. What is your forcast for the future? I hope that you don't let us down tim...

astonvilla - 18 Jul 2004 11:01 - 290 of 706

thanks ssanebs on your comments. It is wrong to put any blame for recommendations onto Tim Freeborn as you should always do your own research....however I think it is wrong to mention future contracts/details etc as this is just talk until it happens and we all know what can happen before contracts are signed. There are some interesting projects like the Hong Kong deal......Wanadoo etc but the problem is we don't know what the bottom line affect will be yet..........i don't see a reason for the drop in share price apart from people feeling nervous about timescales and the possible revenues. I hold just over 400k at an average of 3.2p and am happy to hold.

drunker50 - 18 Jul 2004 12:01 - 291 of 706

I think the problem with this stock at the moment is that it is about to get entangled in a long scrappy legal battle which will certainly unsettle its price if it wins its case with baltimore and wins well i think you will see the shares fly but until then hold tight and hope the lawyers do a good job for us. any uncertainty in a stock will depress the price and a legal battle is always uncertain

apple - 18 Jul 2004 16:24 - 292 of 706

I already said that except for the part about the lawyers do a good job for us.

They will do a good job for themselves.
