Tesco (TSCO)

dai oldenrich - 01 May 2007 16:26

Tesco is one of the worlds leading international retailers. Since the company first the trading name of Tesco, in the mid 1920s, the group has expanded into different formats, different markets and different sectors. The UKs leading retailer Tesco was floated on the stock exchange in 1947 and in 1995 took over rival Sainsburys position as the UK number one. The principal activity of the group is food retailing, with over 2,000 stores worldwide. Tesco has a long term strategy for growth, based on four key parts: growth in the Core UK business, to expand by growing internationally, to be as strong in non-food as in food and to follow customers into new retailing services. The company launched a home shopping service in 2000, allowing customers to order their shopping online. Tesco is now expanding its convenience stores and overseas into areas such as Taiwan, Malaysia, Poland, the US and Ireland.

I went to see Ready, Steady, Cook the other day. It was fantastic. Antony Worrall Thompson absolutely stole the show.

“Morning Sergeant”. ”Morning Constable”. ”What have you got for me today”. ” We have Anthony Worrell Thompson in possession of stolen cheese”. ”Right then lets grill him”

hc lol i do not work to one strategy but several dependent on type of company, commodity, global market performace, sector, reason for fall / rise, nav, forecasts, stability, roi, cost of products, margins, borrowings, cash / liquid assets, risks, et cetera - here i intend selling a % of what i have once it has bounced to an acceptable profit then keep the rest long term - as long as they keep paying divis which according to chatter are expected to be higher next time for several reasons and even a one off not ruled out yet :-)))

that new guy at the top had better watch his arse! gla

Still looking a little bit sick this morning.
Wasn't expecting anything special since the market didn't rally at all at the close yesterday but after yesterday's battering I suppose there are still a lot of private investors who have now read the news and are selling to cut their losses. Wonder what the weekend press will make of this!?
