And still the buys are coming in...those on holiday will have missed something unless they are already in.

The demand for GKP is quite staggering....this should keep the sp quite high...as soon as there is a sell : a big buy comes in.

News out shortly on drilling and AGM next Friday ;-)

Two things to take into account : oil holding up quite well...just a slight drop today but still over 71 US Dollars for WTI and I've spotted some nasty storms on satellite off the north coast of South America with swirls....now could these turn into a hurricane ?...better keep an eye on those because that can push up the price of oil by a few dolars : we would then be looking at oil around $74 or so...would push up the oilies sp...

cynic - 07 Aug 2009 17:20 - 279 of 5505

hurricane season is always from around mid/late august for about 4/6 weeks from memory ..... never go on hol to west indies etc at that time!

it'll be interesting to see of there is any press of note over w/e

It's been a good week for this one.....if there is oil in commercial quantities at the bottom...the sp will hit the 80p's or even possibly 100p's, if there is nothing : back to 20p or so....this is a guess of course so with the sp well supported by this recent shallow discovery : I think we should stay put for the moment....and oil is $72 the last time I looked...all in all....very promising indeed !.

cynic - 07 Aug 2009 18:15 - 281 of 5505

i haven't played this one very well to date, for all sorts of extraneous reasons, but am happy enough with the fairly modest stake i now hold at b/e and if sp went to zero, it would not be overly damaging.
now i am back in uk, shall be able to monitor carefully again, so may well add more, either to keep or to trade depending on sentiment.

GKP certainly has possibilities, but a sensible value is very difficult to determine, and its sp performance, as is usual for this minnow E&P companies, will be pretty volatile and assuredly dependent on a steady stream of announcements.

Too Early To Comment On Gulf Keystone

Behuria said it was too early to comment on a report that Indian Oil and Oil India Ltd. are in talks to buy Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd. (GKP.LN). "We have a process. And this is something I don't want to discuss" as it could hurt the company's efforts, he said.

Looks like the Indians really are talking to GKP. Hold on to your hats guys!

If this is true....then what with the discovery last week, the possibility of a huge strike at the bottom of the Shaikan well....there will be crazy ups and downs for the sp in this company.....

rother - 09 Aug 2009 11:24 - 284 of 5505

I think it is a case of what the next stage of drilling brings to determine any possible buyout. If the primary zones come in on target or near to, then its game on imo.

moneyplus - 09 Aug 2009 16:36 - 285 of 5505

I think the key players already know what they've got and all is being played out behind the scenes--the poor pi can only guess! I did read however on the otherside a poster comment that the site foreman bought 140K shares early last week---leaky leaky! Here's to another good week.

halifax - 09 Aug 2009 17:05 - 286 of 5505

mp what's the name and mobile number of the site foreman?

halifax - 09 Aug 2009 17:24 - 287 of 5505

we made a bob or two on this one last week, but are wary that this might turn out to be another VOG.

cynic - 09 Aug 2009 17:30 - 288 of 5505

i'm not sure VOG ever found anything of significance, and remember that got to 250 before it collapsed

btw, i'm sure it will not have passed your observation that Spaceship Enterprise - aka TLW - still continues to fare well

required field - 10 Aug 2009 08:36 - 289 of 5505

What fine beast are we after today ?...ahhh ! GKP !...excellent choice.....no this is not another VOG because they have found oil in quantity which Victoria Oil never did, though I won't believe my luck if they find some more at the bottom of Shaikan-1....sp up a little this morning.

halifax - 10 Aug 2009 09:22 - 290 of 5505

we recollect VOG claimed to have discovered huge amounts of gas which turned out to be just "hot air"!

cynic - 10 Aug 2009 09:38 - 291 of 5505

VOG sort-of did, but it was never borne out by the facts ..... are you (sorry, "we"!)now going to say the same about GKP? .... in fact, did you not also cast doubts on the veracity of TLW's or HOIL's finds in Uganda?

halifax - 10 Aug 2009 09:55 - 292 of 5505

contemplating going back into GKP having taken an excellent profit last week, but see their situation in Iraq as similar to TLW's etc finds in Uganda..... no pipeline yet.

cynic - 10 Aug 2009 10:04 - 293 of 5505

perhaps they'll order spaceships too then!

cynic - 10 Aug 2009 10:15 - 294 of 5505

just as a guideline, average volume here is about 5.5m a day .... as at now, today's traffic is 10.5m, with much two-way biz as sp is a tad down on the day
