halifax - 16 Feb 2012 17:27 - 2765 of 5505

cynic do you honestly think a major oil company is going to spend billions buying into GKP when Iraq may disintegrate into civil war at any moment?

niceonecyril - 16 Feb 2012 21:05 - 2766 of 5505

£3.86p at close in the USA.

cynic - 17 Feb 2012 07:23 - 2767 of 5505

hali - the oil majors are already piling back into southern iraq, though it gets little publicity ..... if gkp has indeed made a mega discovery, then the long term risk/reward could (not would) certainly make the company a very tasty morsel at a risk-adjusted price

Balerboy - 17 Feb 2012 09:06 - 2768 of 5505

By Ben Lando of Iraq Oil Report
Published February 17, 2012 Iraq is looking to enlist private companies to build four new refineries with the combined ability to process 740,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil, which would help Iraq fulfill its dreams of becoming a net fuels exporter.

Daily Mail

Galvanised by the BowLeven development, other speculative stocks in the seat-of-your pants sector took off. Continuing to respond to takeover speculation, Kurdistan focused Gulf Keystone Petroleum jumped 29.25p more to an all-time high of 411p.
